View Full Version : Should I conceal my ice>link plus set-up?

Quick question for all ice>link plus users.

I am thinking about fitting the ice>link plus into my Audi A4 and would prefer a concealed install in the centre console, as the car is a company car, and I don't really want to ruin the look of the dash.

ANYWAY, my question is this - I understand that the ice>link plus allows you 2 different methods of control of the ipod:

1) the native ipod interface (using the scroll wheel on the actual unit)

2) the ice>link plus user interface, which allows you to use the 1-5 head unit buttons for playlist selection and the 6 button to get into the true Ice>link UI that allows you to do things like play a whole album if you like a song that's come up on random, scan 10 secs for each track etc.

My question is this: what is the Ice>link Plus UI like? Have you been using it? Is it easy to use even if your iPOD screen isn't visible (concealed?) Have you found yourself going back to using the native ipod interface when in the car? If so, then obviously a cradle on the dash would be best?

Basically I want to hide the ipod in the centre armrest, but want to know whether the ice>link UI is easy enough to use without needing to see the screen on the ipod?

Thanks

Stoatie
