Hi,

Okay i bought my IPOD on Thursaday, and on Saturday got a HUGE scratch right down the center of the screen!

It's a 3rd Gen model, and as i live in the U.K there are no cases for it yet, apart from the one that comes with it, and let's face it, that one sucks.

Because most forums in the world are U.S.A based and you say all these wonderful products that we can use, they are never available in the U.K and to import it would just be unreal.

This is what i used on my IPOD to get the scratch out, and what i've done as a temporary measure.

I bought all this stuff at Wilkinson and it cost me ?2.50, it worked an absolute treat too.

Go and buy Brasso Wadding, Sticky Back Plastic and a Cloth all from Wilkinson.

Polish the screen with a circular motion, often stopping and wiping away with the cloth. The scratch will eventually dissappear, use a fair bit of presure but not too much it is an abrasive cleaner.

Then i just covered my screen and back with Sticky Back Plastic that should be a great temp measure until we can get cases.

With the sticky back plastic you need the backlight on, and you can't even notice it.

Hope this helps

Craig

Better for the front of your pod would be perspex polish (as used for glider and aeroplane canopies, and even for motorcycle helmet visors). It can be bought from a number of places in the UK, try your local flying club for advice.

And rather than 'sticky backed plastic' just buy and cut down a PDA screen protector.

I live in the UK and have been looking to remove all the scratches off my second-hand ipod.

I was going to buy some iCleaner from the US, but I've havent read much good stuff about it, and I didnt want to risk having it shipped in for nothing.

I've just bought displex, a perspex scratch remover, off a UK based seller on ebay for 5 quid.

I'll let you know how I get along.

I used the displex, it's okay. Maybe worth the fiver, it polished off the screen quite nicely but could not remove any deep scratches I had.

I'm looking to get some novus scratch remover from the US when I have a bit of spare cash, check this link out for its effects http://www.brian-middleton.com/ipod/
