Ipod keeps skipping two to three songs at a time when playing any format (full random, artist or album random, album with no random). No idea why.

I had a similar problem a few months back. Whilst transferring a load of mp3's from the iPod to the PC a lot of them got corrupted. They still played on the PC, but not on the iPod - they simply kept being skipped.
When I checked them more closely with a tagging proggy I found that the MPEG layer information didn't show up anymore. You can try to convert them back to wave, and back to mp3 again. The problem with that is that you lose out on quality. Your best bet is probably to rip them again from the original CD.
