Hi, I got one of the new 15gb Ipods about six weeks ago but it's only been working for about one week Here's my problems:

After great difficulty and lots of messing around I finally managed to get the pod working with software version 2.0.0 . However I noticed the the battery level indicator didn't work, it always showed as full. So I downloaded v2.0.1 from Apple's website and that's when the real problems begin, it just will not let me put music on. I installed the software and and attached via Firewire directly to the ipod (not using the dock). MMJB comes up after a minute, ipod is shown in "attached portable devices" but the ipod screen is flashing "do not disconnect" and goes on doing so for as long as I care to leave it. I try to download a song and it reports "operation stopped, Ipod is full" even though it is empty and it displays "total space 14232mb, free space 14232mb".

I tried connecting via the dock. It makes a beep noise as I put it in but mmjb does not open up and the little ipod symbol in the system tray has a red cross in it, the pc simply does not recognise it as there. The ipod screen shows the usual "do not disconnect" message. Again, I can go away and leave it for hours and it makes no difference.

Last night I tried again not using the dock. After tyhe usual failure I oput the ipod to one side but about an hour later I picked it up and it was warm to the touch and the hard drive was whirring away which didn't seem very healthy. Can anyone help me? I have tried resetting between attempts and it makes no difference. I think Apple's support and documentation are very shoddy and I'm surprised at that with them having such a good rep, I have had one week's use out of this and now it is a very expensive paperweight.

OK,

You can try this.

When you have docked the ipod, you say nothing happens. Normally, the ipod should mount by itself, however, you could try righ clicking on the ipod icon in the system tray and the option at the top of the menu should say mount ipod. Try selecting this and see what happens.

Let me know.

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks for replying Paul. When I try that it just comes up with "failed to mount ipod".
