Sony MDR-EX 51/71/81 Eartip Exchange Thread

Without a doubt the Sony MDR-EX 51/71/81 line of earphones are among the most popular around here. The eartips, however, are easily lost or misplaced as many Loungers can attest to. After reading multiple posts about users wanting to buy/sell/trade the Sony earbud tips/sleeves. I felt it would be a good addition to this forum to make a thread that is solely dedicated to the buying/selling/trading of these. Since the thread would reach a more appropriate audience in the Ear/Headphone forum, I decided to place it here instead of at the Classifieds forum.

So, if you have lost one or more of these eartips you can now post an offer in here, instead of paying a ridiculous amount of money, for essentially a piece of rubber/silicone, from Sony. If you only use one size you may consider selling them here and/or perhaps making a trade to stock up on the size you use most.

This thread is successor to this (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61024&perpage=15&pagenumber=1) thread, as it only deals with transactions. There are a few offers in there as well so feel free to PM someone from that thread as well.

Wow, there are so many people already that I don't know who to contact.

Just enter mdrex71sl for the search function (upper right corner) and you should be presented with options for ordering any of the earbud replacements. They ain't cheap though, so trade away if you can.

Arjun and I just did a swap and both of us just wrapped them in a bit of plastic, put them in a regular envelope, taped the envelope shut, and off they went.

Anybody got extra parts? I left my little pouch on an airplane so it's gone. I have the white EX71's. On the plane, I was using the iPod remote, and my ears are not identical, so I have a large bud on the right ear and a medium on the left. I think I may like to have a large for the left (it doesn't always stay in when I'm jogging), but most of all I need the second piece of cord. Since I was using the remote, I had the lower section of cord and all the extra buds in the pouch, which is still on that airplane somewhere, probably. Therefore I have nothing to trade, unless you want a set of the 'phones that came with the iPod. Can anyone help, or tell me about someplace I can replace the cord withoput buying a whole new set of earphones?

hey an idea i thought of...I found a store around here that was selling griffin earbud caps for cheap and I jus recently lost 3 small caps, and 1 med so now im left with 1 med and 1 small -.-, so I bought the griffin caps for like $10. Easily replacing my old ones without being ripped off for like $10 for jus one cap. Besides most of us who wear the small or large sizes can cope with the in between mediums also, so you get 2 sets. Hope it helps some of you in a jam panicking about how to find more caps....I was almost just about to buy a whole new set of EX's......
