I've only used iPodder 1.0 (AKA iPodder Lemon) and iPodder X. Both will automatically copy Podcasts to iTunes. iPodder is free and is connected directly to the iPodder.org database structure, but can be unweilding in searching for podcasts. iPodderX comes in two versions, iPodderX for $19.95 (30 day trial) and iPodderX Lite Free. I like iPodderX for the way you can use it's Google-like search interface to find new podcast feeds to subscribe to. I prefer iPodderX, because it has a better interface and more iTunes sync options. You can have it automatically convert your incoming podcasts to Bookmarkable AAC files, useful for long podcasts. AAC conversion and search is only available on the paid version though. The Lite version is more than sufficient if you are willing to manual search for Podcasts online and entering the feeds manually.

If you use ipodderX lite, is there a way to convert the podcasts to AAC (bookmarkable) files (maybe within Itunes)?

Not automatically, but you can covert the MP3s to regular AAC after they are imported to iTunes. Then you can use the Make Bookmarkable Apple Script available from Doug Adams' website www.malcolmadams.com.
Another feature I've noticed is that after giving the full iPodderX it's full test run, and then switching to the Lite version, all of my subscribed feeds were still there and that podcasts I had set to convert to AAC automatically are still doing it.
Another tip on the conversion. Most podcasts come encoded at 64 kbps mp3 stereo to provide a smaller file. So, you will want to set your AAC encoder to match (64kpbs stereo/32 kpbs mono) before converting podcasts rather than using the iTunes default of 128 kpbs. Otherwise, your end product could wind up more than 50 MB, rather than 25 MB. There's no advantage to taking a low bit rate file and encoding it higher, because you won't gain anything on audio quality and with spoke work, lower bit rates are just fine.

What happen?
I d/l a podcast and converted it (it was an MP3) to AAC (64bit/mono) in Itunes. I then ran Mr. Adams script to make the AAC bookmarkable. I was in my car listening to the padcaast, when I put the Ipod in pause mode while I filled up with fuel. When I got back in the car and hit play, the Ipod crashed. I could do nothing unitl I got home and reset the Ipod. At home I have tried to repicate the problem but with no luck yet. Does anyone know what happen?

UPDATE:
The amount of time that the podcast file played before I paused it (when I had to fuel up), was arox 30 min when it crashed the Ipod. When I got home and reset the Ipod, I tried to pause and start the podcast within a few minutes of starting the file, and had no problem. However, when I let the file play for arox 30 min then paused it, let it go to sleep, then tried to restart the podcast by pressing the play btn, it had crashed again. So it seems that after 30 min of playing the podcast, there is a prob when one pauses the file long enough to let the Ipod go to sleep, then tries to play again.

Convert the podcase to 64k/stereo not mono to stop the crashing. The tutorial is here (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61895)
