I don't know about many of you, but I was looking at the cases available on websites and Ebay for the ipod shuffle and was astonished at the prices they wanted for them. I am the owner of a 3G 20GB ipod and recently bought a 512MB shuffle for various small activities where my larger ipod wasn't needed. Frankly I don't really want to pay a lot of money for something that only costs $99. Pretty soon we will be paying more for the accessories than for the shuffle itself. Anyways, I was thinking about what I was looking for in a case for the shuffle. I realized that I wasn't too worried about it getting knocked around a little in my pocket, but I was mainly concerned with it getting scratched and getting pocket lint, dirt etc. in the small crevaces. So, I was sitting at my desk tonight and noticed a couple of unused latex gloves that I accidentally brought home from gross anatomy class. I immediately cut off the middle finger and stretched it around the body of my shuffle. I cut a hole in the tip of the finger for the earphone jack. What I got was skin tight, scratch-proof case that was also sanitary. If you have access or know anyone with access to medical exam gloves, ask them to get you a couple of pairs of various size gloves and try it out. If you are merely looking for scratch protection for your shuffle, this free alternative works great.

wish it was a bit more see-through...Why is there a belt like area of material at the middle??

Looks like it was 2 pieces that were used. One slid over the top and one over the bottom. The part in the middle that you see is the overlap.

yes, that's what it is. One finger wouldn't fit over the entire ipod so i gut two fingers in half and slid them over the opposite ends and overlapped in the middle.

I like the "case". I have access to purple gloves at work, so that may even look cooler :D
Noticed the Peoples History of the US. Great book. I read most of it in college and that's one of maybe a dozen books that I actually kept after I graduated.

ahhh...the famed purple nitriles...great gloves. They give us the cheap ones in gross anatomy.

I may have to try it and see how it works. Is it easy to take off the cap to access the USB adapter?

Yeah, takes only a second. The hardest part is getting the two parts to overlap again.
