I own a pair of Shure E2c's that will only play out of the left ear. This has happened before and I’m thinking of maybe just ditching the E2c's and upgrading to the E3c's. (Don't want another pair of E2c's to go bust in one ear again). I am just wondering if the E3c's would actually be an upgrade since i mostly listen to Rock and Rap.
I like my music to have some bass but also to be accurate to some extent. The E2c's were great but I just didn't like the warm sound they produced. I'm just worried that the E3c's cannot provide enough bass. If anyone thinks there is an alternative to the E3c's or any other suggestions could you please post here Thanks... Sam ;)

Thought about the Etymotic Er-6i's but I don't like the fact that they are all white. Anyone? Help? Please?

I'm not sure what anyone can say that hasn't already been said 1,000 times about the E3c vs. the E2c. Yes, the bass is a bit weaker and tighter. It may not be enough for you, especially for rap. Best advice: buy them from a vendor with a 30-day policy and see for yourself. But if the E3c doesn't have enough bass for you, don't even consider the ER6i.

Thanks. On Ebay the Shure E3c's are going for around £75 but in the shops they are going for about £100 - £130. I'm not sure if I want to blow £130 if I could get them for £75.

But the thing is, you can't RETURN the item on eBay, 99.9999% of the time unless you get a vendor that expressly states it in their auction and even the few that do will ONLY take back a defective unit. So if you "just don't like them" you're ##### out of luck.

If I were you, I'd go to a store that has a good return policy, and try the E3c's on for size. If you like them, either keep them and have the piece of mind that if anything goes wrong, like the ear blowing out, you have a pyshical store to take them back to and a reciept if you have to send it in to Shure as proof-of-purchase.

OR

If you wind up liking them, you could just take back the E3c's, get your money back and then go and buy a pair of E3c's on eBay for cheaper. ;)

Also, this way, if you wind up NOT liking them, you can just go back down to the store, get your money back and buy any other 'phones that better suit your needs. :D

Thanks. Never thought of that. It just sounds like too much hassle. Buying them, getting used to them, sending them back, paying a re-stocking fee and then buying another pair of eBay.

I really feel bad for you. You've had a tough time with the E2c's... I just bought a pair of E2c's and am awating delivery, so I'm a little sensitive about this topic and can easily see myself in your shoes. I'm praying that something like that won't happen to me...

Anyway, I know it seem like a lot of hard work, but this will ensure that you don't get stuck with a pair of expensive headphones that don't suit your needs or are defective and you can't return them...

Just buy it from a store that doesn't charge a restocking fee and you'll be fine.

1. Find a store that doesn't charge a restocking fee and has an ample return policy.

2. Buy the Shure's from the above store and test them out for 2 weeks.

3. If you like them, immediately go online and order a pair of Shure's on eBay for less.

4. Still continue using the current Shure's you bought from the store until you receive the eBay pair.

5. Test out the eBay pair for a few days to make sure they aren't defective and everything is in order.

6. Return "store-bought" Shure's and get your money back.

You'll never have a lapse in time that you're without the Shure's, you get to test them out and you'l ultimately get them for a cheaper eBay price. :)

I don't normally advocate this kind of stuff but you've already had so many problems with your E2c's and I'd hate to see you get the E3c's and find out they're not for you or have to waste more time and money on something that wouldn't make you happy.

Aww... thanks dude. I have had a tough time with these bloody E2c's. If you just take care of them you should have no problems. I don't know what was wrong with the two pairs I had. I took a lot of care with them. *Sigh* :(
Anyway... I think I may just do what you said. An exellent idea. Thanks a lot mate. ;)

Anyone have any pictures of people wearing the E3c's down? Wouldn't they stick out a lot and look stupid? I also noticed that the end bit were you put into your ear isn't as angled as the E2c's or E5c's.

toothpaste, stop it already. You're just misleading people with those stupid graphs. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

Sam, wearing the E3c's down does make them stick out a bit more. The problem is that it's kind of hard to get them to hold like that unless you're using foamies or triple flanges (at least for my ears anyway). Basically, any amount of tug on the cord might pull them out. Over the ears is a much better wearing method.

I would agree. I also noticed that the isolation isn't quite as good as the over-the-ear method. With the foamies at least. Also if you want to wear them the conventional "drop down" way, make sure that you put the buds in the opposite ear (L goes into right ear, R goes into left ear).

Thanks people. I won't be ordering them for a couple of weeks yet. :( *sigh*
