That would be great. I'm not sure though but if there is, I'd love to know.

It is possible, but if it is the first time you are opening your ipod it will probably take you awhile to complete.

I bought a new face on ebay to paint so yes it is possible if you purchase a new back and front, its really not that hard to connect everything.

I have a 30 gb 3rd gen iPod, and I've had it for about a year. Its been encased in the Marware sporetcase since day one. I took it out today to show to someone, and noticed that the front has a slight amount of give top to bottom. It is not loose at all, but it does move slightly. Is this something to be concerned about? It seems like some of the iPods have different fits between the front and back, depending on how the plastic part is cut to fit?

you can send it in to http://www.colorwarepc.com/content.aspx?id=30 and pay like 40 something bucks to have them paint it the color that you want. i'm thinking about doing that.

I wonder how the paint would look if the ipod were really badly scratched.

Man, if I could buy a brushed aluminum housing for mine, I'd do it in a second! :D

Dude, its not worth it to replace it.
I'll give you some advice. I'm pretty sure that there is some polish you can use for the plastic front that will take the scratches out. Then brush the aluminum back with a scotchbrite pad like a bunch of others have. You'll save a ton of money and it'll look better than new.

tomo: and what about the 4th gen? can you take that apart? The wheel comes off, yes. I just dropped my iPod today and got the front case off (but no scratches, go figure).
