I saw this item on ebay... the buyer says they are not realeased in the UK yet and they come in 4 diffrent colors??? are they better than the MDR-EX71

o by the way the red pair really goes well with U2 iPods.

They apear to be Sony's MDR-EX51SL canalphones with a headband and some other accessorys. If this is true they should sound very simmilar to the MDR-EX71SL. The MDR-EX51SL is almost identical to the MDR-EX51SL and the only diffirence, sonicly, between the NX1 and the EX51 would be caused by the tightness of fit influenced by the headband. Overall I would estimate that this wouldn't change the sonics much but may aid in keeping the earphone inserted in the ear canal. Of course the headband also may not work and may make the fit more uncomfortable and harder to keep in the ear canal but that is unclear as I have never seen these myself or heard anyone comment about their fit.

In short if the canalphone they use is the same as the EX51, which I strongly belive it to be, then they should sound very similar to the EX51 and EX71.

Can these headphones be played loud or will they blow like the standard iPod ones

The MDR-NX1s use the same "canalphones" as the EX51s, but the whole setup is built into a neck lanyard type thing so you can hang your portable player on it (shuffle!)...

Here's an old iPodLounge post...

Has anyone tried these lanyard headphones with the nano? Do the NX1's just connect to the player via the headphone jack? How secure is this connection? I see a little loop at the jack end of the headphones, what does this connect to?? Is there something on the nano that it can tie to?? Thanks!
