Actually, the drivers are identical in these different in-ears so I can't see how they would sound any different. The EX71s have a 2 piece cord, prittier ear pieces, and a plastic case. Thats all...........

As jwc110869 indicated the drivers on the EX51 and EX71 models are identical. The housing of the driver is a little bit different with the EX71 looking more executive and expensive. As far as I have heard, via reviews and comparisons on the web, the sonics of them are nearly identical. With that being said they are not comparable to Etymotics or Shure's.
If you want good mid and high frequency qualitys you are going to have to look into the Etymotic and Shure products, however, if bass is your game the Fontopia canalphones are going to be your game. I would say the mid and the highs are not good, but I think they will be good enough for you. They have a closed feel to them, not open and expansive by any means compared to the stock iPod earbuds. They have a lot more bass than any earbud or canalphone I know. The bass overpowers the other freuencys quite a bit but with Rap and Hip-Hop the lack of crisp clear and resolved mids and highs is usualy forgiveable. If you are not an audiophile then the Fontopia canalphones should do well with your kind of music as well as with your ears. Just keep in mind that most audiophiles think they are horibble. I think they are good for most consumers, which I am assuming you are, normal and not anal about your sound.
