Ive read all the reviews on ipodlounge already, but I would like some personal comments on the iskin evo2 for the 4G 40GB ipod.
first of all, is it any good? i heard the clip sucks, so is there any way to detach the attachingthing on the case? And how does the Artic look? does it get yellow or anything? or what about Ghost glo one? that looks cool, but I heard it is this nasty yellow.....and what about that screenprotector? is that any good? will the Belkin batterypack attach to the iskin?
This case is temporary for my ipod, until I can purchase the Vaja one (which will be in a bit of a while, seeing that my only job is babysitting and I already dropped $375 for my ipod...)
Thanks guys, and feedback would be great

If you're just gonna use it temporarily, why not buy a Lajo? They're cheaper, and come in a bigger variety of colors. I'm not the expert on Lajo skins, so you might wanna get some info on them.
Note: I'm not dissing Lajo, I'm just saying that he might as well spend less money for a good case.

it isnt that it is temporary, its that i will probably use it for a year or two, while trying to save up for another one (my problem is that when i get money, i use it and dont save it. Im working on that). I heard about the iSkin and it looks pretty cool and sounds great (from reviews), but I want to know whats the real deal with it
well, how is your case working right now?

It works like a charm. I really need to update my sig... And if you need it for a year or two, go with iSkin. You can remove the clip. I'm not sure about how the Ghost and Arctic look though. I have an ebony one (the iSkin equivalent of black). How much is the Vaja, anyway?

the vajas are i believe upwards of 80 dollars, but the cool thing is if you want you can personalize them and chose the combination of colors you want. But that adds around another 20 bucks. so its around 100....
my mom thinks thats too much for a case, especially for a teenager, but then again, she wasnt the one who paid for the whole thing
check it out at www.vajacases.com
by the way, did you get your case online? or did you go to a srote or something....

oh another thing, how is that wheel cap? because i might order the case from the ipod store, and im not so sure if it comes with it, so i dont know if i need it

I got my case online. The click wheel cap is good, offers good protection. However, you won't get a click wheel cap or a screen protector* if you buy it offline.
*Don't hold me to this. I'm sure about the click wheel part, though.

theyre crap, they tarnish the surface of your ipod and attract lint like none other.

I just recently got on for my 4g 40gig. I like it. The click wheel cap works well and so does the screen protector. I don't know about the ghost or artic ones though because I got the lava colored one. The clip does suck but it's very easy to take off.

and in a month when the entire surface of your ipod is permanently tarnished, tell me how good it is.

iZach, can you describe how your iPod became "tarnished"? and what did it look like? was the damage easy to remove (if it was, what cleaner did you use?)? so what case do you use for your ipod?
thanks

I had a Jam Jacket Pro so that I could wear it on my belt while at work, but hated the screen protector. I liked the screen protector of the iSkin eVo2 and it was similar in other regards to the Jam Jacket so I bought one and immediately HATED THE CLIP. I also don't like the top because it makes it more difficult to turn the lock on and off. So, I cut the screen protector out of the Jam Jacket and slid the clear screen protector from the iSkin into it and I have achieved Nirvana.
People rave about the iSkin but in my mind the only thing it has going for it is the screen protection. It is silicon so it will attract lint like any other. It fits the top port and control lock to closely. And, finally, the bottom is a pain because of the cover and it too is such a tight fit that many accessories don't fit well. It is average at best I think. Get a close look at one somehow before you buy.

how did you get the screen protecter to stay in place?
i heard that if you put baby powder on the case, it would make it a bit more resistant to picking up link. Is this true? and what was really great about the Jam Jacket Pro? is that the DLO one?

The thing I like about the Jam Jacket Pro is the belt clip. It swivels 360 and locks in place on the clip so it can't fall off. I wear mine at work and the clip keeps it out of the way and I don't have to worry about dropping it. Now I have the hard screen protector in it so I'm happy. The screen protector stays in place because there are rubber pads on the underside of it. The case pulls it down against the screen and the rubber pads grip and keep it from sliding around.

I just picked up a Ghost iSkin... it's a solid white, not yellow at all (for now, anyway... I'll have to give it some time). It looks awesome when it's glowing, the belt clip does seem rather flimsy, but thankfully I really don't need to use it.
Anyway, to add some more to the discussion, after using it for a couple of days, I think I'm going to use this as a temporary skin to keep my iPod safe until I can decide on a good permanent choice (I haven't really seen anything that has impressed me as of yet).

I have the Sonic iSkin evo2 case and it came with a storage case for accessories & the iPod w/skin on fits inside also. It also came with the hard plastic screen protector that has little feet on it so that the screen is not touching the iPod screen & the clear click wheel protector. The skin holds it in place right around the grooved edge. I use the click wheel protector with my Contour case also. I have a 60Gb iPod photo.
What I did was put a little vaseline on my hands and then rub it onto the iSkin case. It works for a while but still you have to reapply. The powder left a residue on the skin and I didn't like that. You can keep it in the plastic case to stop so much lik from getting on it. What I'm gonna do is get the white one since the link probably won't show up as well on that one.

Over time the iSkin collects less dust... that has been my experience.
I've had my iPod since the 9th, and the skin has been on at all times except when I charge it. No signs of tarnishing on the body of the iPod.
If you buy it from the Apple Store, you do get the screen protector, but not the complementary carrying bag you get from iskin.com.

Do these iSkins make ur iPod bulky? I'm looking into investing into a sonic blue, want to have it protected but yet not bulky so i can still have the nice iPod feel.

Only if you have the clip on ;)
It's a skin... it goes right over it. It doesn't make your iPod bulky at all. I prefer the way it feels with the skin on too.

Thats good to hear, actually thinking about investing in an iSkin, now the only problem is.... The tarnishing problem. If i can over come that, then i will buy one. Oh and i won a mini.

the tarnishing problem i've heard, varies with use.
Ive read several posts that say they did not get any marks on their iPod, and some that did. One person particularly said that if you washed the skin before putting ur pod in it, there would be no marks. (directions for washing the iskin is suppose to come with the skin...):)
I read about the iskin and researched on it a month before my actual ipod purchase. I wanted to get the case simultaneously to ensure there would be no scratches my precious bundle. I purchased it a week ago and it got delayed. so i have not gotten it yet.
ok, thats just my iskin story... and i just rambled-typed....
to make it short, I heard about the tarnishing problem, but I think there is a way to prevent it, so I am taking the risk and trying it out. Frankly, the Lajo just seems.....blah (sorry if that offended anyone) and I dont really think wheel protection is more important than screen protection.........and I think the hardcases kind of take away the intimacy of the feel of an iPod (that was just weird). so i tried the iSkin
....just waitin for it to come now......
ill tell this thread how is goes.

well the washing directions come with the iSkin or something....
as for the washing, I think its maybe once in a while. The thread that I got the info from is here:
old iSkin thread (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?postid=437314#post437314)
that is the specific page. just read a little, and you will see the directions, from some named LikeAFox or something.
hope I helped!
