Bizarre Sound Problems

I hadn't used my iPod for a few days until this morning.

On playing an album this morning I noticed that the vocals have all but disappeared (they're way in the background and hugely reverbed) and other pieces of the mix are very loud or very quiet, drums appear very quiet for instance.

I only have EQ reduction on, but have tried turning everything off and no change.

Anyone got any ideas?

It actually sounds like it's been put through one of those Karaoke machines that hides the vocal if you see what I mean.

Hmm, well I tried the obvious - the earphones - and guess what, it's working fine now.

I suspect maybe a little bit of dust had introduced itself to one of the contacts and disrupted the stereo mix - very strange it was too!!
