Very nice. Could you list all the parts used and which wires connect where. I want a few more details before i hack into my nice new golf!

i noticed two ground wires there...is this the ground of your lighter and headunit? if it is, how did it do to eliminate the groundloop hum?

everything else looks great, very clean install

one ground for the new cigarette plug and

there is also a ground loop isolater between the dock and the converter

How necessary is the GLI in your installation? Have you tried the setup without a GLI?

Go to Radio Shack.. I think I bought a Y-connector there... one male
plug, 2 female plugs. You can cut the wires and use the male for this... I used one of the female jacks to hardwire an extra outlet (in my sunroof space) for my radar detector.

WOW!!! That's amazing, I was just brainstorming the same idea for my GTi today! It looks really swell, I think I just might have to do that.

I was thinking of using the cupholders above the radio though, make it a retractable type thing. I hate having liquids above my radio anyways!

On the same note, does anyone know how to remove the cupholders? and where can I find one of those stereo tools? (I haven't even researched it, I'm sure I could find out easily enough!)

Again, it looks REALLY clean!

If you prefer, you can email me at nealopp at mac dot com

Thanks!

Wow. This is exactly what I'm looking to do in my Ford F-150's cupholder tray. In fact, I started a new thread about this kind of installation about an hour ago.

Quick question though...

Did you take audio from the iPod by plugging the 3.5mm minijack wire into the Belkin Auto Adapter's jack (that has the gain knob) or did you just plug it into the Line Out jack on the Dock? I'm wondering if there's a difference between these two options.

Also, did you make that pull-out tray or did you buy it somewhere? I don't see anywhere where you talked about that part of the whole thing.

Thanks for the pics!

you have to plug the minijack into the dock, it will not work if you plug it into the belkin jack while using the dock.
i made the tray my self, and may be making more to sell.
im not sure of the dimentions of the ford tray spot though.
glad to help.
