Playlists

This may be a little complicated, i'll try to explain it as best it can.

I have a friend who have very similar music taste to me and he has made alot of playlists for different moods/music styles etc (stored as M3U files on his laptop).

I would like to be able to use his playlists on my ipod, so i went to his house, turned off sync in itunes and added the pllaylists, however the obvious problem is that it adds the songs again,

Is there any way of getting arround this, preferably just being able to add the list of songs, not the song paths.

Unfortunately, no.

The problem is basically that if you're adding a playlist, it has to be able to reference the song files themselves somehow (which is why the files themselves are re-imported). Importing the playlist without importing the music files wouldn't be of much use, since iTunes wouldn't know how to find the tracks in your existing library.

While it's theoretically possible that it could do a lookup by song name/artist/album or whatnot, the variations in this between different people's libraries would make that impractical.
