So I just bought a lovely Contour for my trusty iPod Photo and I am having a slight problem: my PocketDock won't fit in the bottom. Anybody else had this problem and have any solution suggestions? My immediate thought was to take some sandpaper to the Contour case and try and make the opening a bit bigger. Any thoughts? This case is exactly what I want except for the hole that is too small!! Thanks in advance!

I've got a 40GB Photo and I was looking for the Showcase too (local distributor will only bring it in to Singapore towards end of Feb)!

It sounds like really poor planning to make the hold too small to fit the docking cable! Let me know what you're doing to fix it. I'll be sure to bring my docking cab;e down to their showroom when I drop by to pick one up.

hey quasi-

the regular docking cable from apple fits just fine. it's the pocketdock that needs a little help. you can open the case, connect the pocketdock and then close the case but it doesn't close all the way. the sad part is that is only a millimeter or 2 that needs to be shaved off of the whole in the bottom of the case. i think what i am going to do is just outline my pocketdock against the bottom of the case and file down the edges. the case otherwise is absolutely brilliant! much better than any other case i have had for my iPod!!

Problem solved. If anyone else is curious, just use a Dremel tool with the grinder. Took me 2 seconds (literally) and my PocketDock fits snug as a bug in the bottom of the Showcase. 'Tis a splendid thing.

I have the iSee 20, and I just got a PocketDock, and it also will not fit into the iSee. I used a drill press to enlarge the whole in the bottom of the case, and then the PocketDock fit fine, but I also got the Bose SoundDock, and that is causing another problem. The iSee is too thick to fit into the docking station even with no adapter (if you have a SoundDock you'll know what I mean). Now I need a case that will allow use of the SoundDock (for at home), the PocketDock (for connecting to my car), and protect my iPod while still fitting in my pocket while I am at school.

Right now I am considering either: the Showcase (if it is easy to enlarge the hole in the bottom, and is easy to take out of the case for use at home, no tools needed) or a soft case that has a flip open bottom and screen protection.

So, my question is: Is it easy to take the iPod in, and out of the Showcase without the use of tools, and is it easy to enlarge the hole at the bottom of the case?

Or

Does anyone know of a soft case that flips open, and has screen protection, and where to get it?

I suggest the Contour. The bottom of the case, as I stated above, can easily be made a bit bigger with a 2 second Dremel grinder treatment. I have had several cases for my iPod and this is by far the best. Taking it in and out is easy, too. I just remove mine from the case to stick in the dock to charge. It simply has a 2 way latch on it. It's awesome. Don't think twice about it.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply. I notice that you live in Minneapolis. I go to the UofM, and my dorm is in Minneapolis. I don't have a dremel. Right now I am at home, and to enlarge the hole in my iSee I put a round file into a drill press and then filed it a little larger. It left a lot of excess plastic that I had to cut off with a knife, and overall it didn't look that great. What do you suggest? I may be able to find some grinding bits and use a cordless drill next time. Did you put it into a vice?

I just held it in my hand. It literally took me 2 seconds. There is an attachment for the Dremel that is a cone shaped grinder (really just course sandpaper) that fits the current hole in the bottom of the Showcase perfectly. I took a pencil and outlined my PocketDock against the bottom of the Showcase, turned on the Dremel and went to town. I couldn't be happier with it. In my opinion, it is the perfect case. I was elated when I found out they now carry them at the Apple Store in the Mall of America. Best of luck!!

I was just at the Apple Store in the Rosedale mall and was looking at the Showcases. I was hoping that they would just have a larger hole in them, but they didn't so I didn't pick one up. I should have, cause then I could be getting it ready for use right now. Maybe I'll have to get one sometime next weekend.

riiight! got it! I don't have a pocketdock but I have been thinking about picking one up. Hmmm... and u've given the showcase a glowing rating already, hehehe, esp the part about how this is the best case u've owned so far. I'm definitely picking one up!

btw, xluben, just sand off the excess plastic till the hole is nice. Since u're obviously familar ard a workshop, treat the bits of plastic like burs and file the buggers off or sand it down.
