Laptop charges but wont recognize my ipod

hey all, this is my first time ever on ipod lounge so excuse me if this is redundant but after searching the lounge, I still have found nothing...

okay so I got a new 4G ipod and I have a new pc laptop. it has been working fine for the last month but now as I plug in the ipod it through the USB. it will charge but the computer nor ITunes will recognize it. this is weird because its been working fine up ill now.

Any help please? thanks

Hey! I've got the exact same problem. I've moved a 19GB folder full of movies and music using the iPod as an ext hard disk. Then I've ejected the iPod and all seemed to be ok... But now my laptop only charges it and does not recognize it nor does iTunes... Prolly the only thing is to restore the iPod but I don't wanna loose 19Gb!!!

I'm having this problem too... when I plug in my iPod, Windows won't regonize it and my entire PC freezes until I unplug my iPod. Will doing that restore fix it?

hey all, I called customer service and all I had to do was press center button (which is the select button) and the menu button (which is the top button) all at the same time for about 6 seconds. This resets your ipod and it worked for me, hope it works for you all!
