Is it possible to simply copy and paste mp3s (files and directories) directly to the iPod in windows explorer?
I have almost 30GB of music, but only a 15GB iPod so I'm not sure how to go about "synching" with mmjb.
It would be much easier if I could simply move what I want onto it, and delete what I don't, right in explorer.

You could try out xplay... I think it can do what you want.

thanks, i'll give it a go
the whole "synching" thing just doesn't make sense for me. maybe if i had the 30GB version it would.

It will not work. Although the songs will be there...there is no database file to play them.
The iPod consists of two essential pieces: a hard drive and a database. When you turn the iPod on, it reads the database, which tells the iPod about all of the songs and playlists that are on the hard drive. The database holds information on song titles, artist names, album names, track numbers, song lengths, and every other detail.

well i've decided to just stick with mmjb. it's the only one that actually worked (between it, ephpod and xplay).
and now that i know how to arrange what's on there (showing artist and album e.g. in addition to title) it's much easier to manage the ipod's content.
