Automatic Updating question

I'm kinda worried...I'm buying an iPod with music on it, but when I get it and plug it in, will it auto update and delete all of the music? Or do I get to change that before I lose all of the music? Can I rip it all to my PC before auto updating kicks in.

Sorry, I've never had an iPod before.

On first connect it will tell you: "This iPod is connected with another computer would you like to replace the contents with your current library?" Select "NO"

If you are really concerned, you can hold down shift and control at the same time to temporarily disable autosync. Follow the link in my signature to see how.

Can I use it in disk mode and rip all of the songs to my hard drive before it auto syncs, or does it automatically do it when I plug it in for the first time?

You will have to remove the songs you want manually. I won't rehash how here. It is discussed throughout the forums and in a couple of articles on the main lounge site.

The iPod is not made to natively go from iPod--> computer with the songs within the database to prevent piracy.
