hi i bought a 20gb 4g ipod a few months ago. i got the original ipod carrying case to go with it. it works fina and everything but now i want to get something that i can control withouth taking it out of the case. originally i wanted to get the iSEE thing but then i wanted to get something that covers the clickwheel as well. i was thinking about one of those iskins, or something else that covers the wheel also, but the whole silicon thing doesnt really appeal to me. any advice at all please post or email me. thanks
mEVIL1313, you may want to check out the Speck Products FlipStand (http://www.speckproducts.com/4g-flipstand.html). It is made of clear plastic like the iSee, but also includes clickwheel protection. Though there does not appear to be an iPodlounge review of the 4G Flipstand, reviews for the earlier Flipstands (1G, 2G & 3G) are available (http://ipodlounge.com/reviews.php).
Alternatively, if you really like the iSee - clickwheel protectors like the Power Support Wheel Films and iPoDonut are available.

I got my 4G 20GB a few months ago aswell and at first, I got one of those silicone iSkin-type cases. I used it for around two weeks and just chucked it back into my drawer. I was fustrated with the amount of dust and fuzz that was attracted to the skin. I then went on to buying the official Apple carrying case and have been extremely satisfied with it so far.
My iPod is better scratch protected from it than the skin which gave the back of the pod irremovable spots. Fortunately, I had my iPod replaced due to battery problems and so, got a new scratch-free baby! Up until this day, my iPod is pretty much scratchless. :)

I got a xSkin eXo3 in Ice which is clear and super thin... but it attracts all sorts of dirt, dust, pocket lint, dust bunnies and whatzawhoitz. After 2 weeks it's starting to turn yellowish and dingy even though I wash it gently EVERYDAY!
So I bought a nice white and clear plastic case that has cutouts for the scroll wheel and buttons. It zips around the sides and fits really snuggly. I haven't used that xSkin since... but I will if I'm going jogging outside or something. ;)

For the dust/lint issue, just rub it down with talcum powder to solve the problem. :)
I went with skins AND a case! :D
Here's a pic of my 4G 20GB in a Lajo Martian exo2fb, and in a leather case:

I'm sorry about your aversion to silicone, but I can't imagine a better way to carry my iPod than in that configuration, as I can remove the skinned iPod from the beltclip leather case, and insert it in my pocket, because the exo2fb has a clip-free flatback.
Unless you want to get one of Lajo's more expensive art cases, I recommend the exo2fb, it's perfect. :)
Good luck with whatever you choose though.
