Hi, as this lounge forum is so extensive i am aware that i may be posting a question to which the answer is somewhere at present yet i haven't been able to locate it.
I am running Win XP and have a 40 GB ipod only a month old. I have been using it for a month without problems. Yet today as i turned on my pc, my ipod started making noises as usual and flashing "do not disconnect". But itunes didn't open automatically. So i opened it manually and it didn't recognize the iPod. So i tried opening it through windows yet as soon as I right clicked the ipod icon, explorer crashes. So i tried plugging it into the wall and reseting it, yet it still wouldn't connect with the pc propperly. (BTW: the ipod works fine, as in it plays music and charges etc.) So i tried downloading the newest updater thinking that might help. After opening and iPod Updater 2005-01-11 and pressing ok to the 'about' stuff, it said Initializing. And so it has been for the last ½ hour or so... I really do not know what im doing wrong, yet i am afraid that its a curroption on the iPod? (then it wouldn't be able to play would it) because i am in a habit of simply pulling my ipod of its stand and not disconnecting it properly first...:(

Well, In advance, thank you to any replies, referrals, and especially solutions!

Talk about adding insult to injury now i cant even start itunes... when i have my ipod in its dock....i mean it runes the process and i can see it in task manager but nothing comes up on the screen or anywhere... same when i try to run itunes file.... and every time i try to eject the ipod, system error: some program is using the ipod... probably itunes...

Hmm i think i posted to early... solution: re-install itunes and while having itunes open dock the ipod turned on. By this time i had reset my iPod several times probably 6 or 7... simple because it wouldnt play... then as soon as i got that to work and docked it it functioned as normal...

i hope this can help anyone else with the same problem... if i have any associated problems ill post them... hopefully with answers as well!:D

i guess i really did post too fast again... now i have even more problems: my ipod wouldn't connect to itunes and and would play all my song files but without any sound. :( sometimes when i turned it on it would come up with the apple logo and then the folder icon with an excalmation mark, and then turn off again. 2 seconds later it would automatically do the same 3 times in a row and then just stay off. then when i turn it on it goes to the main menu and suddenly it plays songs. so i tried connecting with the dock but itunes doesn't do anything. The ipod just sits there flashing do not disconnect, while getting into gear every so often when the little circle icon appears in the top left for a split second. As if connecting, yet it doesn't. Itunes also seems messed up when the ipod is docked if minimized it stays there and wont maximize again, well it takes at least 5 or 6 minutes before it responds. And i was playing music when i docked my ipod, and after the end of the song it stopped playing even tho it was set to continue. My proccesses are set into slow motion msn messenger for instance, and when i disconnect my ipod it all speeds up again.

Now i am really starting to reconsider this ipod thing... so much hastle... but if anyone can come up with a complete solution i will be grateful:confused:
