When i connect my ipod to my pc through USB 2.0 ports, it doesnt recognise it. Nothing happens like the ipod id not displayed in my computer and itunes does not recognise it. the do not disconnect message does not appear on the screen. but when i connect it through firewire, it works normally. why is it not working with the usb ?
Maybe your USB port is not working or your USB cable is faulty. Fairly logoical I would have thought.
Have you tested the port and the cable?

the port is not faulty coz my usb printer is working fine and i have tested all 8 ports with the ipod and when i connect the ipod through the usb cable, it sometimes starts charging but not always but even then it is not recognosed
8 ports?
Are you running through a USB hub?
If that is the case it will only work if the hub is powered and even then I think they are suspect sometimes.

nah the ports are built in the mbord. i used to be able to connect through usb before. only something has happened now
