Hi all,

I'd like some opinions on Emusic.com Generally, I'm not a fan of subscription models. This is due to the fact that my music buying is sporadic: I will go through spurts of activity and inactivity. However, Emusic looks like a really nice deal. I have one concern, and that is that within a few months I will have all the stuff I want from there, and won't be able to find stuff to get. My question is, how good are they on getting in new material?

Thank you.

There's been some discussion of eMusic in this thread (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63664) so you may want to check that out.

Personally, I find that eMusic has a good selection for eclectic stuff, and does refresh that content fairly regularly. You have to decide whether the music that is available for download is to your tastes. I found it to be a great way to expand my jazz collection, but I don't always care for much of the other material available there.

I've maintained my account with them for the simple reason that I'm still grandfathered into their old plan of unlimited downloads (one of the advantages to signing up on the ground floor about four years ago). Even then, though, I've thought of cancelling it, as I barely use it anymore.

I think that they do still have a free trial offer, though, so perhaps you could give it a shot and see if you would do that much downloading from them. Worst case scenario, sign up for a few months (avoid any long-term deals), download what you want, and then cancel.
