The LCD on my iPod just spontaneously cracked this morning and apple refuses to repair or replace it - Prices for LCD repairs on the internet are crazy - anywhere between $150 and $300, the cheapest being half the price of a new iPod.
So I'm looking to sell it. Its in good condition - it has normal use wear - except for the screen. The screen isnt completely inoperable - I will post some pics later.
Im sure it would be great for parts, etc...
If anyone is interested please respond here or pm me
Thanks

How could they refuse to fix or replace it?
What did Apple give as a reason?

They said that LCD problems are not covered under there warranty - even though it was caused by no fault of my own
they did offer me a refurbished ipod for $250 - i have lost a lot of respect for apple over the past couple hours and i will be canceling my order for that new mac mini...
That's bad news! Don't give up on your iPod just yet, maybe someone can help you out on one of the other forum pages here.
I have to agree with the customer service issue. I had a iPod Mini problem a month after I bought it and the people at the Houston Apple store told me that if they looked at it and could not replicate the problem I was having, then I was essentially out of luck.
I'm sold on the Apple engineering and the products that they manufacture. However, I'm definitely NOT sold just yet on the customer service/support that Apple is supposedly known for.
We'll see.

anybody interested ?
if i dont get any offers i may place it on ebay
the ipod is still fully functioning - the screen is still somewhat usuable - if youve ever used an ipod before you should'nt have too much trouble

Also, as my computer is down for the time being (I am writing this from school), I will not be able to clear the music from the iPod
There is currently 1705 songs on it - a listing is available here (http://www.apbiolove.com/Music Listing.html) - it takes a few minutes to load the page on a slow connection

culrich - did you talk to customer relations or technical support? if you are unhappy with the answer you get from tech support, ask them to transfer you to a customer relations specialist. they will normally listen to your problems and if you waste their time long enough, they'll send you a new replacement.
hope that helps! good luck!

i recently woke up to find my lcd screen cracked even tho i figured i would be screwed and i was i sent it in then they told me how they dont cover, well, anything and since they make a crap load of money there would be no way to replace or help me out but with consistant #####ing i am they will be sending me a new ipod for the low cost of 150 bucks porbally cheaper thna u could get it repaired for and its brand new so if u ####ed up and broke yours then i suggest u keep bithcing and it helps to say things like u market to teenagers what teenager has another 400 or 300 bucks to spend you should ahve a repair service and mention site that offer to fix ur ipod for about 140 online if th ey can do it why cant apple since u ####ign invented it...if they give u #### ask for the next person up when they say the next person is the ceo ask them what they think the ceo would do if u wrote a letter sayign ur never gona buy an apple prodcut again... in short keep #####ing dont settle for any more than 150 bucks and then post everywhere how u got apple to suck you ####

First of all, if the part broke due to a manufacturing defect and not say ,you sat on it or something ,that is not a case for saying tough. So what I suggest is that you look up your local trading standards group, they will provide all the necessary info as to your rights as a customer ,and with this info call apple customer services again and state your case. Do not sell it or anything like that. Also note the one thing I know in most countries the waranty is with the point of purchase always and they are the only people you should be dealing with so if you bought it in a shop no matter if it is an Apple shop that is where you go ,and do not take no for an answer.
The crack by the ways was most likely caused by stress introduced during placement in the maufacturing process, and a slight tap on the unit would finish the LCD off.
