View Full Version : Can I break a track in half in iTunes?

I have just noticed that a commercial CD I own has an improper tag. Tracks 4 and 5 are merged, and tracks 9 and 10 being split improperly. As a result, iTunes saw the 10 tracks listed for the album and assigned the names to each. However, after track 4, the names are one song behind what's playing.

Anyway, what I need to do is split track 4 into two parts. I've read how to join the final two tracks, but don't know how to split #4 into #4 and #5.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

iTunes won't really be able to do this properly, you really need an audio application such as MP3 Splitter:

More apps can be found with some Google searching.

What I did was in iTunes I changed the start and stop times of the tracks to split them. You must do this before importing from the CD. Then I imported the songs into iTunes library.

That sounds like a nice simple solution, especially since I have confirmed that the track times are the same as printed on the label. I will delete the tracks from my iTunes list and reimport the CD. Can you tell me how to change the start and stop times?

If that doesn't work, I will certainly follow up on the advice offered above and locate appropriate software.

Thanks again.

Worked great! Just went into track info and selected stop time, then re-imported same song with a start time of the next second and end time of the original track. Renamed it and the remaining tracks and wala!

Thanks for all your help.
