New iPod photo - only showing 14gb free space... help!!

HI, hope you can help…. Bought 40Gb iPOd photo last night, tried to set up this morning. Using Windows XP. It started formatting the iPod, then seemed to hang. Got all the way through, and into iTunes…only problem is that the free space on the iPod is only 14gb!! There is no music on it, and when going into settings it shows the capacity as 37.1gb and free space as 14gb…

I tried to restore / reformat, but I can’t get the bloody thing to work through iPod Updater… please can anyone help?!

Have you tried adding any tracks to the iPod? IIRC, mine showed a similar size when I first formatted it, but it displayed correctly once I put some music on it.
