On Jan 23, 2005, My wife and I were headed to a nice lunch when our SUV started to skid on ice/slush, our vehicle crashed head into a concrete retaining wall on I-271, then was propelled across 3 lanes of traffic coming to a rest in the right berm. No other cars were involved. Our seat belts and airbags prevented severe injury or death. We walked away with a few bruises, I suffered a seat belt burn on my neck and of course we were shaken up a little, otherwise OK.......!
After asking my wife if she was OK, my second question was "where's the iPod?
BTW ...The SUV was a total loss. Shopping for a new SUV this week.
Now, the iPod... in this vehicle, we had a 4th gen in a seidio holder which is attached to the cig lighter. It has been estimated we hit the wall head on at 40-45 mph. The iPod was propelled from the holder, upward, and into the windshield at 40-45 mph. We found the iPod lying on the dash.
Of course, I fully expected the iPod to be broken. I looked at it and saw no obvious physical damage... so when we got home, I tried it and IT PLAYS PERFECTLY!!! We were amazed. A credit to Apple engineering and design and a little luck, maybe?
I thought you all would appreciate this story....

oo, fellow NE Ohioan....those interstates can be rough.
Anyway, glad you all are okay...car looks like it took quite the beating, and glad the equally important iPod is safe and sound!

Woa. your lucky..
On january 11. (the first time i was driving my ranger since the last crash) me and my fiance where driviing down a two lane high way. long story short we rolled three and a half tiimes. landed on the driver side. we are and where both ok. got into the ambulance.
This was hilarious. "She looked at me and said : THE IPODS. I jumped up. ripped off the crap they had me hooked up to and ran the the snow, over the the truck. crawled up the side. pulled open the door. and found both of them A mini. and 4g 40g. only thing we lost was the itrip. even thought they were in a pile of snow. they are both fine, and work like they did when they were new.

This post remined me of something i dad a while back. some kid brought his shiny new iriver into school he goes "guess what its got a 40gb hd, and its color, i go guess what ive got a 60gb, color and its way cooler. he said his was better, i said mine was better. i said mine was stronger, he said his was stonger. i took ipod droped it on cement from about 5 ft, it scratched the back. he droped his iriver on cement from 5 feet. the thing exploded with plastic and metal and circut board going everywhere. HA Ha ha Iriver. you suck!

Long time lurker, new poster here.
I am so glad to hear that you guys walked away w/o harm on you.
The same thing happened to me last september.
The camry hit a pot hole and it was wet out, slid outof control and the trunk slammed into some trees, and the car bounced back and hit 2 more trees head on.
Ya, just like in the movies.. the back glass was broken completely, the trunk turned into a funny "triangle shape" if ya know what i mean. and a huge V shape dent was on the hood.
Only thing different from the movie was, my car was the only one involved, hence no crazy massive pile-ups. haha
Of course, the car was totalled, and thank god! (err, i mean Buddha, since I am a Buddhist) that I walked away with only two scratches on my arm from the airbag.
And here's the cool thing.. my ipod mini 4gb silver, went flying out of the back panel glass and landed about 10 feet away from the car. It was wearing an in-case leather case. When the ipod went airborne, it was in play, too! The in-case was totally scrathced up, but surprisingly, my ipod mini did not have any physical damage, and was still playing.( bought it since it first came out)! The only thing I'd complain is that the famous static problem surfaced 3 days ago, and thanks to applecare I bought, Gonna bring it in to apple tomorrow and see what will happen.
It's' been awhile and still gives me chilles when my 96 camry turned into scrap metal. Tough car, the exterior was destroyed but interior was pretty intact.
Of course, I got another 05 camry too.
No pictures, sorry. It's just too painful to look at the car, let alone to take picture in the tow yard.

Wow, those were entertaining (not the tragic part of about the accidents of course, the comical aftermasses). And yet, somehow I can picture my boyfriend doing the exact same thing.
