I was browsing thru this forum and I was thinking about the soon-to-come iPods.
And I thought about a Cell phone iPod.
Personally, I dont like the idea and I dont think it would sell.
But on the other hand, I think it's design would be pretty cool.
I think that the only good thing about it is that it would have it's built in mp3 player.
I prefer leaving cell phones up to Motorola :p .

Was reading (http://www.extremeipod.com/article2/0,1759,1743493,00.asp) about that. The idea of merging an Ipod with a cell phone with limited memory seems lame. If the phone held the same number of songs as a mini, I would jump at the purchase.

Two reasons a cell phone ipod would be a good thing:
1) Click wheel
2) iPod OS
The two problems I have with EVERY cell phone I've ever used are the operating system (tends to be slow as hell) and the interface (buttons are always way too small et cetera.)
Hear me out... the wheel may sound unideal for a cell phone. You need ten number keys, you say. You need fast text, you say.
Yes, correct. But the wheel can be made to do all that. All it is is a Synaptics capacitance sensing touch pad, which means it would take very little to divide it into ten or more "zones" for keys.
I'm visualizing a phone that looks a lot like the Moro Razr. A little thicker perhaps with an iPod Mini hard driver, or maybe a 2gig flash like the Shuffle.
Or we could keep a conventional phone pad inside the flip and put a click wheel on the outside.
Either way, the wheel will make for quicker scrolling through contact lists, volume adjusments, quickly adjust features during calls, etc. Slap a mic on the trademark white headphones and you don't even really need a proper handset, but it would be there anyway.
OS? Even Symbian phones tend to be clunky. Make it less flashy (ok, keep the color screens and camera; Apple already has the iPod Photo interface) and graft in the iPod navigation system. I would buy it the second it hit my price range (about two years after release...)
This will be made by Mororola, and they've already licensed at least the iTunes interface software for it. Personally I suspect it'll be on the market in the next year or so. Here's hoping!

the clickwheel is too big for a cell phone. even if they shrunk it that would make it very hard to use. maybe it will have a four way directional pad like most cell phones have that doubles as the kind of buttons on the shuffle.

How about this
A cell phone that's a cell phone
And an Ipod that's an Ipod.
Not once in my life have I thought "gee, I wish I could carry around something that if I lost it I would be out of touch with everyone I know and I'd have no music to pass the time in my solitude"

Not sure if I am the only one here who feels this way but I am tired of the cell phone companies merging EVERYTHING with their phones. Games, text (another for of IM), Email, Web Browsing, etc etc. Then you have to pay for it. Wouldn't it be smarter to buy everything individually (say a cell phone, ipod, and a notebook pc with a wireless card)? -shrug- Just my input.

you can see whhat the ITUNES?MOTORLLA cell phone will look like if you watch the apple expo movie. they show a picture of it. wont be an ipod. it will be a cellphone with itunes on it, so you can purchace ringtones. and use as a mp3 player. no scrool wheel. but it dose look really sweet. and i am deffiantly gettting one.

I would buy an "Iphone" becasue I hate carrying many different devices. Think about it. The two devices that most people are phone and music. Apple could partner with one of the big cell comps. If Apple developed the product, it would produce a new market becasuse no one has done it the way Apple will do it (the coolest way).

Here's an idea that I sketched up last night, I thought it would be neat.
