what would you like to see the accessory makers come out with for the shuffle?

after living with mine for a weekend, the first thing i'd love to see would be a range of alternative caps for the USB end. a clip (like on a pen) would be useful. I would like to be able to run the headphone cable down a sleeve and then clip the shuffle to the inside cuff. i'm the type that lives and breathes music on the go, and i daily catch my headphone leads on things like door handles, coat hangers and even other people's coat buttons. i notice that people have already lost or damaged their USB caps so i'm sure alternatives would be very useful. the caps remind me of lego pieces, and we all know how easily those little things get misplaced.

also, as a shamefully shallow woman, am i alone in seeing the potentials of wearing your shuffle like jewellery? i've already removed the white sting on my 'lanyard' and have threaded through a chain to wear around my neck. i'm gonna try it as a braclet too. i'm sure there can be better designs for cases than apple's overpriced piece of plastic known as the sports case.

as the shuffle is less precious than the other iPods, i'm sure the cases will not have to be as technically sophisticated as the iPod or mini cases. that mean's more opportunities for a more creative design approach......

anyway, let's hear about fantasy accessories

Not that I think I'd buy it, but I'd like to see Belkin or someone put out a "dock" that the Shuffle can plug into to give it all the functionality of one of those Creative MuVo things. Maybe even wrap around the Shuffle in the same way. If they could keep the price reasonable it'd be a nice middle finger to Creative. "Yeah, call it four-year-old technology. Even with longer battery life & more capacity, we matched your features and your price."

i vote pen clip too, but im sure if apple releases anything, it'll be way too pricey

Hi, I have the iPod Shuffle. I bought the extended battery pack, which would add 20 hours in to my iPod Shuffle. I bought it of, of amazon because it was cheap. I got it for $30.00. Do you think the battery pack would be nice or bad.

thanks for your posts.

You're in luck. PodBuddy has just came out exactly with what you are looking for.

You can read more about it at http://www.dvforge.com/the_clips.shtml

I think it would be pretty cool if there was a watch in the usb cap... just a 00:00 display

What's the top cap in that picture meant to be used for?

Do you think it would be at all possible to have like a cap that actually plugs into the USB port and covers it, but because its plugged into the port it could maybe display the track name and info on a small screen. This would be bigger than the standard cap in length, but would still cover the USB port, and actually plug into it at the same time. It would keep the general form factor of the shuffle, but just make it slightly longer.

I was going to say belt clip. Looks like someone already thought of that. I just bought gym shorts with pockets so that I can stick it in there instead of wearing the lanyard around my neck, which sometimes gets in the way.

I think the top cap in the picture is a pin. Like the fastening on a lapel pin.

I want to see something that makes it more of a stylish necklace that hides the iPodness. So then I wouldn't have to put it in my pocket at school, I could just keep wearing it. Also, I would like to see colored USB caps, so you could have the color for your mood, and you would have replacements for those carelessly lost. Apple needs to sell replacements A.S.A.P. The pen USB cap would aslo be a nice accessory.

hey it'd be really cool if some company made an accesory that attached where the USB cap and coiled up your headphones. it would zip up some attached headphones and hide the cord at the push of a button., so it wouldnt get tangled. It would be really cool because i hate having earbuds get tangled in my pocket or my pack. It takes 5 minutes to get them untangled normally.

I too think that the jewlery route would be pretty cool. Something like a "bling" case, that could hang from a large silver chain. is there a usb car charger?

well, you CAN get 3rd party USB car chargers for general use and try using it that way.

Not exactly what you're suggesting, but here's something for the ladies (http://ipodjewelry.com/) (via Gizmodo). I think the prices for those are too much even though I understand how labor-intensive some of those might be. Some good ideas to copy/interpret though, especially for girls (and guys) who're particularly crafty.
