I got my 4G 40gig on Christmas morning (thank you oh most wonderous boyfriend who doesn't understand hi-tech toys, but hands 'em out) and I didn't get it talking to my computer till the day after Christmas.

It took me almost a month to get 2691 songs, 7.7 days, 11.69 gig on it.

I had to reorganize some genres and stuff. For some reason most of Sublime comes up as Alternative/Punk and the first album, Sublime, comes up as Rock. I also had to find set lists on the internet for concerts I had in my computer that I'd converted from .shn files to mp3 but only had the file names and song lengths. It took awhile to rename all of them correctly.

How long did it take for you to get your music on your Ipod?

Do you find yourself listening to music you haven't listened to in a while?

Took me about a week of loading disks while I did other work during the day to get the 7.5 gig's I've got on loaded. There's probably 20 or 30 disks I could load, but its mostly the wifes stuff that I dont really care for.

It took me about three weeks to load 6000+ tracks on to my 40gb  I was loading for 10 to 12hrs each and every day. Luckily I am my own boss so I sat at work feeding CD’s into my laptop whenever iTunes beeped, if it wasn’t for that I think I would still be doing it now :D

took me like 20 hours to get around 20gb on my 40gb. i'm going to get started on the next section of it tomorrow.

all of the music that i'm putting on is ripped full cds, and i'm being pretty anal about how i write the tags, so i have to rewrite most of them :(

A couple of months worth of of evenings and weekends, loading in upwards of 600 CDs (some in their entirety, many just one or two tracks each), about 5400 tracks total (17 gig and change). I've just recently begun the task of fine-tuning the "genre" information in iTunes, since genre seems to be assigned according the artist, rather than the song itself: for instance, ALL of Joni Mitchell's tracks are called "folk", even though some of her albums are (in my opinion) pop or jazz.

I still don't have all my music on it... not even 15% of it... It just takes so darn long to rip everything then encode it to AAC... ugh.

So I do it a few CD's at a time. I don't have all day to sit in front of my PC feeding it CD after CD after CD... :(

well I have EVER CD in this house on the CD, and I download scene releases by groups like -RNS,-FNT etc.. so all the tags are already perfect.

I just opened up EphPod, dropped and dragged each album (each album = folder) and took about 25min for about 700 songs....Firewire rocks :D!

It took me about four days to get all of my ID3 tags perfect. If it was at all possible, I gave each song a Title, Album, Artist, Year, and Genre.

A month or two later I took it upon myself to get the album art for all of them too. That took a few days.

My collection has grown from 2500 to 4300 in 4 months. I make sure everything is perfect as it goes on there and I don't have to spend days correcting everything anymore.

Bought my 20GB iPod last Tuesday and it took me a week to load approx. 4900 songs on it. I have about 1.2 GB left. All but about 900 songs are from my CD collection (550+). I haven't burned all of my CDs yet, but eventually all of them will be in digital format for me to manage via iTunes + iPod. Out of that week, I guess about 5 days at about 4 hours a day to get the 4900+ songs loaded. I had both my desktop and laptop burning CDs like crazy!!

I'm satisfied with the tags since almost everything is from CDs. The mp3s that aren't tag properly, I'll worry about later.

I'm 2 weeks into iPod ownership and I have 1539 songs on my 4G 20GB. Besides ripping a TON of CD's I've had to tweak on the ID3 tags of nearly all of the old CD's I ripped over the years.

Back when I was just ripping to my HD and not worrying about organization other than my file system the ID3 tags didnt matter so I ignored them. Now I'm wishing I had paid attention to them over the years.

I've ripped at least 40 CD's in the 2 weeks and the stack is still at least 3 feet high that I have to plow through.

Oh yeah, I'm ripping with EAC+Lame which sounds GREAT IMO.
