Hope this is the right forum!

I'm looking for people who have been skiing/snowboarding with their Ipod, and are willing to participate in an article about the subject. Please send me an email. peter3450madsen@hotmail.com Thanks.

just "ski" around the forum and you will find a snowboard post.

I have been skiing with my iPod since 2003. This year, I bought a seasons pass for Kirkwood and I have used my 1st gen, 3rd gen, and mini. My 1st gen is still the best because the battery would last over 8 hours. The 3rd gen's battery would last about 8 and the mini's battery would last 7 hours and 30 minutes.

I snowboard about 7 times this season, all with my iPod. I just put the iPod on shuffle and played away for about 6 hours a day. I fell alot earlier in the season, and yet my iPod didn't mess up. I do have a fourth gen. Im now better though, im less concerned about breaking my iPod by falling on it (as I did that).

I'm going to use it when i go to MTL hopefully, but i dont fall often, only when i ride the pipe and jumps, but not often, not harsh falls, considering this is my 6th year. But yeah, if i get a case in time, i will bring her up to the slopes for the break.:D

from a previous post about ipod durability, not really relevant besides the fact that i took it snowboarding. here is an excerpt;

Backside 540 for those that dont know it's a snowboarding trick. Well, I overspun and well slammed down hard on the ground. My ipod was in my burton snowboard jacket in it's protective case. I had an imprint of the ipod on my rib cage for about 2 weeks now, it's still a little purple and yellow. Case and point is, I have slammed the ipod really hard now twice and it still works.

that was over a month ago or so.

I've been skiing for about 17 years now, since since I was like 5 or 6, and this is the first season i've had my ipod while skiing and now I'd never go without it.

My only complaint is if it's really cold the ipod tends to not perform too well, sometimes cutting the battery power in half. I haven't had to worry too much about landing on it during a fall since I keep it in my front pants pocket, which is pretty hard to fall on while in skis. Although I did have one close call where I tried a 180 and ended up landing on my right hip within inches of the ipod, but the tunes never stopped flowing so all was good.

Does anybody use a shuffle while skiing/boarding? I've been considering buying one because it would be pretty useful to just sync up a shuffled playlist for the slopes and would be less of a worry when it comes to falling or wear and tear from the weather.

I've considered bringing it. I don't fall much, this is my 3rd year skiing. My only concern is I wouldn't be able to hear much around me, so if someone was going balls out down the hill and about to slam into me, I wouldn't know.

Sadly , i'm still saving up for my first iPod , i 've been wanting one for soo long ... I could get a shuffle but i decided im waiting for the new mini's and if i didnt like them i'm getting a 3 or 4 G iPod 20G... Although my friend let me borrow his iPod for a few days and i snowboarded with it...heh I loved it! Anyway , does that count?

Just my concern too. It's like having your two ears plugged whilst driving... Virtual suicide. Maybe it's not too intrusive is the volume is turned down. But then again, it's that volume that gives the impact during skiing. :confused:
