Audigy sticky?

Is there going to be an Audigy FAQ in this category?

If so, I'd like to start the summary:

* Problems mostly due to VIA chipset motherboard.
* Might be solved by PCI Latency patch or a BIOS upgrade followed by adjusting the PCI latency manually -- but the latter can cause instability (and the former had no effect in my case).
* Most, if not all, other motherboard chipsets appear fine.

Personally, the same Audigy 2 Platinum and 20Gig iPod works perfectly in an nForce2-based motherboard but not at all in a VIA-based motherboard.

I've got a VIA motherboard with Windows XP, an audigy2 and an iPod. Everything is working sweetly together and I haven't had any problems at all.

I haven't updated the hyperion drivers recently, though, maybe that's important.

Umm, I have a via chipset with a creative Live! 5.1 sound card.
I also have 2 HD in my comp which *used* to be connected to the ATA100 controller. But ANYTHING that i sent to the second HD became corrupted!
It turns out that if you have a via chipset, a creative sound card and 2 hard drives using the ATA100 controller this will happen. It is a problem in the via chipset. Took me a year of taking it back the the retail shop and them sending it back a week later saying it was fine. It wasn't until I told them what i had found out, that they changed my disks over to IDE in the motherboard.

the moral of this story is, DO NOT get a creative sound card and a via chipset!!!

I disagree VIA KT400 chipset, Creative Soudblaster 5.1 Live, 2 ATA 100 HDs. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. I have had the hard drives configured in a RAID Array (striped and mirrored) in WinXP Pro and currently Master/Slave config in WinXP Home. And I'm chillin like a villin with my Athlon XP 2200+ and 2x512MB Corsair DDR 2700.

hehe, ok. I guess I meant then that there are some problems with the combo. mine is a KT133A chiptset.
