Rip in both and see if you can detect any difference.

Try this too:

Rip both to mp3 and if you have aac/mp4 do that as well, then do your listening test. :D

it's weird, when i rip files to my computer from cd i rip with EAC or CDex. I encode my files at 192kb/sec because i can tell a clear difference between file types 128 and 192 on my computer. However, when i download off something like say; kazaa, i download at 128kb/sec and it is cd quality... i dont get it.

not quite sure what the answer is but it's possible that variances between mp3 codecs could produce different (sounding) results. just as aac/mp4 has different implementations (you can read about that here: http://audiocoding.com/index.php), it's possible that the song you've downloaded could have been encoded with a different mp3 codec than what you are using.
