I'm thinking you could make something decent with a sweat band.

I bought a case logic armband designed for small MP3 players for $10 at Target. On the actual armband part there is a little slot underneath the strip of fabric that has velcro material (the Shuffle never touches the scratchy part of the velcro for you anal types obsessed with protecting it at all costs) on it that fits the iPod Shuffle perfectly with no threat of falling out when running. so you get an armband for your iPod Shuffle and a nifty little zipper bag for other purposes like your drug stash (joking):p

has anyone seen the actual shuffle armband that apple makes? I've only seen one pic that apple has, none that show how it really holds the mp3 player on there.

I'd like to try and make one too. Well, something besides a huge rubber band at least :)

i think with the apple armband, the usb cap is integrated with the band. so you just click it in. thats just my guess from the pics

I just bought $10 gym shorts that have a pocket so I can stick it in there. But that doesn't show it off (I don't care, but you said you did).

I finally got my Shuffle and I am very happy with it. Within 24 hours of me getting my shuffle, I was rocking it at the gym with my homemade armband. It took me about a half hour to make and cost less than $5. Beats waiting 5-7 weeks and paying $29.99 for the Apple one. Here are some pics.

I know this isn't revolutionary like Helixpod's sweet CNC machined case, but it may be useful to someone. Here are step by step instuructions.

Materials
1 and 3/8 inch wide Elastic - enough to go around your arm (wider is better IMO)
3/4 Inch wide sticky back velcro strips - only need an inch
Thread
Something to sew with - needle, machine, your mom

1. Fit the elastic around your arm and find a comfortable length. Remember it should not allow your shuffle to twist from all the intense physical activity you will be doing. Mark the desired length on the elastic with a marker

2. Overlap the elastic about 1 inch to form a loop of the desired length. Then sew the elastic together around the outside of the overlapping area. I used a needle and thread, If you have a machine and know how to use it you could use that, or get your mom/gf/friend to do it. If you are a real man you'll sew it with your hands and a needle. (use same color thread as the elastic so no one can tell how bad you suck at sewing.)

3. Cut and Inch of one side of the velcro and stick it to the back of your shuffle (see pic below). I would suggest using the softer side of the velcro. Don't worry about damaging your shuffle you can always peel the velcro off, plus you only paid $99 for the thing.

4. Stick an inch of the other side of velcro on to the armband. Now, sew along the top and bottom edges of the velcro to fasten it to the band. It will not stay without you sewing it on.

5. Put armband around your arm and stick Shuffle to the band in desired position. You are now able to Shuffle at the Gym

Good luck!
