i dunno if this can be fixed or not, but ive gone through the trouble of tagging all my mp3s (over 4000) and on some of the song titles ive even numbered them, but i cant get them to play in order as they are on the album, for some reason the ipod decides what ####ing order they go in and this ####es me off cos a lot of my albums need to be played in order (think medely on abbey road). is there anything i can do, or any programs i can use to fix this bs.??

When iTunes updates songs to your iPod it also updates the playlists to the same sort order that you 've used in iTunes. I.e.: if your playlist is sorted by track title, then the same playlist on your ipod will also be sorted by track title.
To get an album to play in order you will need to add the track number to the tags (which i'm assuming you've done) then sort the playlist tey are in by track number. Ephpod should allow you to do this aswell.

Also, make sure ID3 tags contains the same tracknumber as you want. I've recently sorted out my mp3s (around 600 albums) using Tag&Rename.

I'm having the same problem and have noticed others are too (many diff threads on the same topic). It's driving me mental since until now my collection was obsessively organised. Track numbers appear correct according to tags but randomly organised on the ipod. I'm using the newest EphPod with a 3G ipod with firmware updated recently. Reset won't work and even re-ripping and uploading songs again will not solve the problem. Rebuilt database also but didn't work.

i iTunes, the info tab has track # __ of ___
if that is filled in, songs play in order, unless shuffle is on
you can also edit this info wuith winamp, or in Windows properties (on PC)
probably more ways too, but these all work for me
