Well, I just returned mine to the Apple Store - I read mixed reviews - but figured "What the hell?" - if I don't like it - i'll just return it - well, I didn't like it. #1 - shares iPod battery - and it drains it pretty fast - at least it did for me. #2 - Finding a station -once you find a station - you program your iPod to work with it *you'll see that in the instructions* - takes a few minutes I might add. Now, you start out on your drive - 3 minutes later *static* - so what do have to do - program your iPod to work with a better station - another minute or so - that's annoying. Unless you don't mind static or less than cassette quality. Sometimes depending on what kind of music you listen to - it drains it out and sounds OK - but if you listen to something slower - you'll hear interferance.
The iTrip stations get programmed into a playlist that gets imported into your iPod - which is where you go to program what station it works with.
Now, I don't live in a rural area - so maybe that's why I had trouble with it - however, FM quality is never great - but i'm sure it's worse in certain areas.
Bottom Line: I hated it - I thought it was crazy to take a step backwards in music quality - my next purchase will be the Alpine set-up - that looks like the absolute best option for playing your iPod in your car.

I used the iTrip for a few weeks while I was pondering a more permanent solution and I thought it worked pretty well. I found that the default frequency of 87.9 worked best for me.
For 35 bucks and no wires, what more could you ask for. Sure it isn't perfect, but it serves it purpose for most people.
I think people with crappy stereos will ultimately be more happy with the iTrip. I have a fairly decent stereo in my car so the low fidelity was more apparent. In my wife's car, however, it sounded as good as anything else coming out of her crappy speakers.
