weird apple earphones

first of all you know how some cowboy hats have a string that comes down and you can tighten under your neck with that bead? well when i went to the apple store to get my defective earphones replaced they gave me a pair that looked the same as my old ones (came with ipod mini) but with a thing on them to tighten under your neck (like the cowboy hat) is this what apple is doing now with their earphones or am i special?

My brother just got a new iPod Mini and it included the same thing. I believe that a lot of the older, cheap Sony headphones included something like this, and I didn't like it much.

i think these are the new default headphones since the shuffle came out

they are the new headphones and u can tighten them all the way when u roll them up so they won;t tangle.
