pocketdock w/ lineout sounds crappy in my car

So I got a aux-converter thingy that i put into my available cd-changer (2004 vw gti) and that things sounds really bad. slightly (but still crappy) better when i turned off equalizer settings. am i missing something??? i didnt use the cable that came with the pocketdock because its too short. think the cable makes a big difference?

i used the pocketdock with the included cable in my home stereo and that sounded fine. i really really doubt cables makes that big of a difference.

ill try the included cables tonight.

any other suggestions would be really appreciated.

How does it sound "bad"? Is it distorted, too loud, or something else? How does it sound when you plug it into your headphone jack? If it sounds allright when it's plugged in the headphone jack, then your pocketdock might be defective. If it still sounds really bad, the "aux-converter thing" might be the culprit.
