If price weren't a factor, which one is better and which one would you choose?

I think the I-See looks better, but the showcase probably protects better. And you don't have to worry about buying those protective sleeves...

See I'm trying to choose between the two.

I eally like how clear the I-See is but i'm thinking teh showcase has better protection.

Does anyone know how thick or bluky the showcase is in comparison to the I-See.

I know the Showcase got a better rating than the I-See. But I'm so indecisive. The I-see is just so much prettier!

That said I'm a clutz and well my ipod's already been through some scrapes miraculously!

i would go with the iSee. i recently got one, and i love it. looks great, awesome protection, and those sleeves really work. read my full report here (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68573)

That's cool. So it's easy to get the ipod out of the case? I use the dock just about everyday and I'm always late rushing out the door with my ipod so I want something that'll take less than 20 seconds to get on and off.

The one thing I really want to know is if the showcase is a lot bulkier than the ipod.

The thing is I can get both for the same price about $40 Cdn. It seems kinda silly to get the i-see when I know the showcase is valued more...

to answer your question, yeah, its really easy to get on and off, once you get the hang of it. I feels really light, and since its see-through, i often forget its there. great investment.

About the bulk it depends on which iPod you have. If you're using the 20GB it adds more bulk than the 40GB due to the two different sized iPods sharing the same sized case. IMO really doesn't seem that big once you put your iPod in the Showcase. Taking the iPod out of the Showcase is akin to taking a CD out of it's case except without the annoying center locking thing ;).

Btw, just out of curiousity, which place in Canada is selling the iSee and the Showcase for the same price? It's quite a big ripoff as the iSee is so much cheaper than the Showcase.

If you've got a regular white iPod then I'd probably plumb for the iSee. But if you've got a U2 black iPod (like me :) ) I'd strongly recommend you go for a black Showcase. Both cases are very easy to open and shut, but Showcase offers more rugged protection and even affords a little extra space under the shim inside the case which useful for hiding surplus earphone cable.

i'd go with the showcase. i have a black one and it looks great with my white ipod. it offers great protection, and yes its designed to fit the 40gb ipod as well so it is thicker, but personally i dont mind because i know my ipod is very well protected inside of it. it is also extremely easy to put in and take out of it.

The showcase really does not add that much bulk. I have the black one for my white 40 gig iPod, and it's beautiful. Not only is it really protective, it makes it super easy to take the pod in and out without scratching it.

It would be perfect if it had top mounting accessory support.

...so which one did you go for, showrunner?

Sorry if I am jacking this thread, but I am trying to make the exact same decision, and am getting the U2 ipod in about 2 weeks when my semester grades come in. I was wondering about the showcase. Will it "showcase" the signatures on the back, because looking at the pictures, it looks like it will cover them, in which case I might opt for the isee. I can get the isee for 16 and the showcase for 25, both including shipping, so price is not a factor for me either. The only thing I am worried about is going with the isee and then somehow breaking the ipod, which would really suck.

The Showcase will block a significant portion of the signatures on the back of the U2. But then it is a more rugged case than the iSee.

ive also read a bunch of complaints about the isee that if you dont put the ipod in the protective sleeve first then the ipod will get scratches on it when you're putting it in and taking it out of the isee. yeah the showcase blocks part of the signatures... but in the long run it truly protects them.

So the whole story is I've been trying to get a showcase forever, and then I found out that carbon nation www.carbonation.com had them. I didn't know they sold the I-See cases, so I sent my sister to pick up a Showcase for me, she came home with an I-See cause I hadn't specified. (I got the feeling from her that they pushed her to buy the I-See-when they were selling the thing at the same price as the Showcase!)

I kinda liked it, but I finally decided to go back and exchange for a Showcase. But when I went back today they only had a Showcase for ipod photos left (which is weird cause my sister said there were a ton of Showcases when she went, black and white).

I ended up just taking the showcase for ipod photo even though I just have a 40 Gig. I didn't feel like having to go through the trouble of going back and waiting for them to re-order and get more in stock.

Does anyone know if there's any problems with putting a regular 40 Gig in an ipod photo showcase? I know it's a bit bulkier which sucks cause that was always one of my concerns....

showrunner,
My showcase photo came with two foam 'inserts'. A thick one for the 20GB and thin one for the 40GB. Hopefully yours did too.

Well there's no foam inserts that I can dettach but there are some foam strips permanently stuck to the inside of the case. it seems to fit fine though.

I know Carbon computing has a pretty good rep, but honestly they're kinda shady, and in terms of pricing they're routinely slightly more expensive but alas this is the only place I could find that had contour design stuff!

I was just wondering if the showcase photo was much bigger than the 40 gig showcase.

Also in the instruction sheet is says "Do not use _____ this may damage the case. Does anyone know what they meant to put in that blank?

Anyway I just wanted to thank everyone for their input! I know it's a silly trivial thing but I'm a silly trivial person (most of the time!)

I own a Showcase for my 20GB iPod.
My advise - run a mile.
The Showcase looks great out of the box, pristine and white just like the iPod. See what it looks like after 2 months!!
Its grubby, the rubberised plastic is yellowed and the case basically spoils the look of the iPod.
If you are going to go for the Showcase - get the black one.
As a case its great, easy to get the pod in and out, good access to the controls and very good protection.

Im now looking for a new case and to be honest, Im going to go for the slip in leather type ala Apple original case.
