I've been researching, and as near as I can tell, I can hook up my 4G 40G iPod to my Panasonic head unit through its auxilliary input. I'm wondering if it makes a difference as to which kind of 1/8" to RCA cable I use. I know you can get them for cheap at Radio Shack, but I also know you get get a Monster iCable for $29. Does it really make that much of a difference. Which cable should I get?

Thanks in advance,

I had a cheap radio shack, it sounded fine through my AUX.
I just got a PocketDock w/ Line Out. $29. The line out sounds better than the headphone jack. It also comes with the cable you are looking for. When it moves, it does not pause like it did when I was hooked through the headphone jack.

I found the Monster THX standard cable to actually make a difference compared to the "ipod" branded Monster cable.

In my setup it did make a difference to go from radio shack cables, to the Monster "ipod" then switch to the Monster THX. THX cable is about 3 times as thick as the "ipod" cable and it was cheaper?!

I also have the Monster cable, but it's VERY thick. The Belkin audio cable is nice, and only $20. They also make a black version, that isn't quite as fancy-looking that sells for less than $5.00 at the dreaded Wal-Mart.

I second the RadioShack option. For the average listener, buying Monster or other "high performance" cable is a waste of money. $6 at radioshack sets you up, leaving you 14+shipping to spend on other accessories.
