Ok i ordered the sony mdr-ex71sl in white on ebay. I got them today and it ended up being the japanese version. I am wondering whats the difference between the US version and Japanese version?

Probably just the manual and warantee info won't be in english. Probably nothing different with the actaully earbuds.

The Japanese earphones will translate all music played through them to Japanese.

There is no difference in the actual earbuds. The difference is that your warranty will not be valid in the United States. To get warranty service, you'll need to send them to Japan -- an option that is clearly cost prohibitive because the cost of mailing them to and from Japan will likely exceed the price of the earbuds.
