my 30gb ipod is currently "being assembled" but i know the first accessory i need to get is a decent case.
i looked at all the main cases and decided that i liked the booq nappa pod (leather). however, i also like the vaja cases. i didnt really like the vaja ivod case at first but everyone seems to love it and i think im starting to see some appeal. that said, the vaja cases have screen protection which the booq case doesnt, and i like the ivod because theres not a flap to deal with.
currently i think im going to go for a ivod, probably the $69.90 version as i have to pay lots for shipping to UK. would you guys reccomend this? and in black or white?
sadly i dont find the iskin exo appealing in the least so its either vaja or booq, ivod or nappa pod, maybe vajas classic g3 case. not sure.
out of these, which would you reccomend based on style, protection and ease of use, and build quality. i only intend to buy one, so the price isnt such a major issue.
also, should i get one with a belt clip or not? is it worth it? the ipod looks kinda uncomfortable to wear on the belt and i think id rather have it in my pocket.
thanks-shashu

FWIW, I'm really happy with my Booq.
Watch out-- the Vajas are incredible cases, but you're right--shipping to UK would be horrible. Shipping to the US (from Vaja in Argentina) is $18.00. To answer your color question-- get what appeals to you! Personally, I like the white... How long would it stay REALLY white, though?! Dunno.
From what I've heard from m@rk, the Booq PodPaq014 shipped to the UK is about 36 pounds I think. (~$55 USD) Add appropriately for Nappa.
If you are into leather flip cases (Like me) but want to save some cash, the Marware CEO Classic is another option... for $34.99. Also, there's the DLO Executive PodFolio. As for the Marware and DLO, I don't like the wrap-around snap closure, but that's personal preference.
To make your decision even harder, I'll advise you to keep an eye on www.ebcases.com. They make incredible, affordable leather flip cases. (I have 4 of them for my different PDAs). I've been in contact with them recently, and they're making one for the iPod 3G. It should be out/shipping relatively soon.
As for the belt clip, it's totally up to you. If you've got comfortably loose pockets, and would like to go that route (like I do with my Tungsten C), then don't get a belt clip (and stay away from the Nappa PodPaq-- it's clip isn't removeable or optional). The Booq PodPaq014's clip is removeable and the residual nub is extremely low-profile. I'm not sure about the Marware or DLO belt clips.
I just gave you a mess of info-- sorry. Probably didn't help... :-/
I've ordered an i-Vod case from Vaja, and it's getting delivered on 22nd (to the UK). I'll post a reply here once I've tried it out.
Yes, it is expensive (especially with UK shipping), but I really want a decent case for my 3g ipod and all the reviews I've seen for these have been excellent, so hopefully it'll be worth it. I'll let you know what I reckon.
I went for the Caterina Mandarin / Caterina Jean colour combination and the Ultra Clip and name personalisation (why scrimp when you're spending that much!).

The Booq Podpaq 014 is a great case in all of the areas you mentioned - style, protection and ease of use, and build quality. I'd go for it!
I paid a total of about $120! And today I read on the main page that Vaja are setting up a european distribution site - Innovacases.com, due to go live at the end of September...d'oh!
Should've waited, as I'm sure the shipping wont be anywhere near as much.
Got the case delivered this morning. I've gotta say it's worth the money. It comes in a very nicely packed black box, and literally reeks of quality. The leather is top notch and there is no stitching to be seen.
The ultra clip works fantastically and is very quick to clip/remove your ipod, while at the same time keeping it secure.
I'll stick some photos up when I get a chance, but I'm dead chuffed with it.:D

ivod looks about the best ive seen.
i need to make the bread before i can order one, plain black without belt clip came to $85 (?55) shipped. its alot for a case, but i cant see anything else worth buying for cheaper. everything else except the booq nappa pod and the other vaja cases look pants ;/ dont really want to wait until the end of september for this site to be setup as i need the case asap. looks like ill have to foot the huge shipping cost. oh well, osd, your case looks pretty awesome.. ;d

I'm sure these pictures don't give these well made cases any justice, but.... these cases remind me of padded toilet seats from the 70's.

lol @ padded toilet seats, my cousin used to have one of those the air would rush out and I would always laugh. I called it the diaper toilet.

ok...
looking at the ivod it looks like its going to cost around ?60 GBP with shipping and take a long time to get here. for that reason i think i might go with the booq nappa pod for ?40 GBP.
would anyone strongly not advice this?

I'm looking for the best combo of case and car holder - I like the car holder you glue in place. Both DLO and Marware have these for their CEO cases. Here is the link for the Marware car holder:
http://www.marware.com/3GCLASSIC.html
Here's my question: I really love the looks of the Vaja and it looks like the nub on the back will be compatible with the glue-on car holders. Does anyone know whether this is true?
Also, are the DLO and Marware car mounts interchangeable (and compatible with the Vaja)?
