I just received mine yesterday and it works great. Simple to use - just plug it in and select your channel. Sound is very clear and strong. It does seem a little pricey though.

I would really like to hear more people comment on this device compared to the iTrip. I bought an iTrip the other day and I'm not exactly thrilled with it. I have had terrible luck with FM transmitters in my car. I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla which has it's antenna on the back of the roof so that may be the problem. I installed a Kenwood stereo that has an aux input but I would like a good FM transmitter for use in other cars or at home.

If enough people seem to like the AirPlay over the iTrip I will return the iTrip and order the AirPlay.

Thanks.

I'm quite interested in the AirPlay, but I'm worried that it won't fit through my iSkin eVo2. Anyone have any experience with them?

I just recieved the airplay today, and it's able to connect just fine with my iskin evo 2 case on.

Look for the other link that discusses the quality of the units that are being received.

I for one sent two back as they broadcast a loud hum and sound like a tin can throught the radio.

Had an Itirp which was much better.

I have had my airplay for a month and my wife has had her itrip for the same time. They both sound pretty much the same with regards to clarity. We both agree the airplay is easier to use. Of course it's not like listening to a cd. I've also never heard the so-called "whine" on mine that some other people have complained about. Remember this is an fm xmitter and the tech just isn't there yet. It won't sound like your reference system in the house, but it's worth whatever it costs....

I just bought a used one on eBay. I love the user interface -- it's great to be able to change stations without interrupting the iPod, and I like that the hold switch is accessible. My iTrip fell into the habit of resetting itself a lot, so I'd have to wade through the iPod menus to play and pause the 87.9 track.

However: My AirPlay cuts out for three seconds every sixty seconds. It's almost like the auto shutoff feature is kicking in, then the AirPlay is immediately woken up. I wrote XtremeMac today, but I haven't gotten a reply yet.

Yip, same problem and contacted xtreme as well without a response as yet! But its not every 60 sec. Its more irregular than that.

Good luck they don't seem to return your email if you have a problem.

2 weeks still waiting

Thanks for that. Yes, I still have not heard anything as yet either. I sent 2 emails and left two messages but no response. Maybe they have a lot of problems to deal with? Anybody else with similar airplay symptoms? Thanks

I have the XtremeMac Airplay and it doesn't work for me. Have tried 2 different cars. I live in Hawaii on Kauai so not many radio stations for intereference. Even asked the manager at Radio Shack if I were doing something wrong and he was baffled. I may as well return it and try Road Trip. For one thing it's about $30 cheaper. FYI the guy at Shack said they cannot keep the iTrip in stock..says they sell 6-7 a week. But it won't work with a Shuffle which I have. Also, as with some of you, customer service at XtremeMac is non-existent.
