I know, went at lunchtime, absolutely useless. The guy I spoke to said 'not sure, probably couple of weeks. You can order online from 29th though'

er, right.

I think that these are being shipped more quickly than people expected, and that estimated arrival times are pessimistic for once.

I understand that getting them to the Apple stores is a priority.

The London Apple store is the company's No.2 retailer.

We can expect them very soon.

hopefully next week then sometime

I've just ordered mine and it says 2-3 weeks. Damn. I hope they get some stock and can send it out earlier.

The Apple Store Regent St got some (512 only, 1 GB at end of the month) on Friday, quite late.

They still had some on Saturday morning (I bought one).

Phone 02071539000 (option 7) to confirm availability

Jackonicko, what are your initial thoughts and opinions on it?

just wondering what the volume level is like on your euro ipod shuffle. I to live in the uk an am wondering if it is loud enough.

Jackonicko
01-15-2005, 11:15 PM
It's loud enough for me! I went to the trouble to get US 1st and 4th Gen Pods cos it seemed worth it for the extra volume. I can't play the Mini at full volume (it would blow my earbuds, if not my eardrums!) so I suspect that it has no volume cap, or that this early Regent St batch is of the US model.

It's also very bassy.

This 512 MB version has also packed on a playlist that's 750 MB in iTunes (as 192 k MP3s) by autoconverting the songs to AAC on the Shuffle (they're unaltered on my other iPods!).

I'm very impressed, so far.

cheers for that, ill try and grab one at lunchtime

UPDATE: That was an unexpected intial shipment of about 100, next big delivery in next few days. They never used to keep u on hold for so flaming long to the store either, i have to wait a good 5 minutes to get thru

Im gonna rant because I find Apples customer service crud. So ok its better than Dixons but u would expect it to be very good from the geekiness they try to exude. I called up lunchtime, was told next 2 days, calle dup now, 25 minutes to get thru, this is the store I was calling, 25 minutes!!!!! To be told (this is 5 hours after calling originally and getting the above answer) 29th February.

Do they know their head from their a)se?

yeah - they told me wild time estimates - just order from their online store - they come way quicker (mine arrived in 2 days!!) and you dont have to queue for hours to buy it.

got 2 now - gave one to my sister and she loves it - so do i in fact - worked perfectly in the gym last night, and got some admiring glances!

After I was told 29th, I find out the store has been compiling a waiting list for the delivery tomorrow. So even tho I am already a loyal customer of apple, been in numerous times and called about the shuffle i wasnt allowed on the waiting list?

Apple really need to get their London store in check

Their inability to answer the phone in a reasonable time is certainly very poor.

Can UK podders who use the Regent St store keep posting when and whether they get more Shuffles and when they get 1 GB shuffles?

Thanks guys.

Not much help for those in London, but Tewkesbury Apple Centre, Gloucestershire has got some - I picked a 512mb up yesterday. It is very, very cool and imho well worth getting :0)

Are the 1 GB Shuffles in, yet?

Does anyone know whether there are any at all in at the moment? I'm down in London tomorrow and might pop in to see them if there are any there...

So much for keeping out of the way of temptation!

I'll answer my question, they had some 512s in today but no 1GBs. They seemed to be selling quite fast, they had about 15 - 20 behind the counter and they sold 5+ while I was in there. Including mine :)

What time did you go in YPie? I work very nearby, but rarely get off before lunch time to go and investigate the stock. I'm holding out for a 1Gb.

I could get it posted, but I'd be out, so I'd have the hassle of picking it up from the post office etc.

About midday on Tuesday. I was lucky - I'm actually from Leeds but had a 1pm meeting in London and Oxford Circus tube station was conveniently placed on my route to the meeting from Kings Cross, with just enough time to get off the train and pop in to check.

but i don't know for how long.

i've had mine for 24 hours now. i went in yesterday morning at 10am and was told there were none and that they were expecting early next week. (BTW, the store was packed at 10am!)

went to work myself and came ho!me at 7, logged onto the Apple discussion boards and read a message that a UK poster there had bought one at 6pm. Hauled ### back out to Regent Street. Luckily the store closes at 9pm so had plenty of time and bought the 1GB model. have no idea how many they have. the girl who served me did ask me whether i was on the waiting list (meaning there is one) but sold me one anyway.

the whole operation is a bit haphazard at the moment, judging from the fact that they told me two different things on the same day. anyway, i am a very happy girlie. the shuffle rocks, and i can't get over how small it is!

Off topic but...

I have loads of iPod posters for sale in the UK, I am selling them for £15 each which I think is a very fair price for the size, quality and rarity of them. They are brand new and have never been used before which is very hard to find.

The posters come in green which seems to be the "in" colour of the moment at apple (look at the ipod shuffle packaging and advertisements etc)
some pics can be found here; http://www.nicklovell.plus.com
Message me on here or email me

all the money goes torward a Mac Mini that I will be buying with a student discount :-)

The colour of the poster is abit darker than in the pic, sorry about the blurryness from the camera.

Thats not fair . I live about 100 miles from london so i cant get down there at 10 in the morning(im not that obsessed) so i ordered online i dont think its fair that ppl who have already paid for them have to wait 3-4 weeksinstead of the ppl who live close enough.

Space Cowboy

Great. And that's related to this thread how?

On a more on topic note: I picked up my 1Gb shuffle about 4:30pm on Sunday, after they called me on the Saturday to say it was in stock.

acemace

It doesn't have anything to do with this topic i just dont think its fair

acemace

and i dont think its fair when all the ppl who are lucky enough to already own an ipod take all of the stock for people who have nothing but a ####ty cd player

life's not fair. if you're there, you get one. simple as.

I saw the shuffle online 2weeks ago & just had to have. I live 1 and a half hours on train to Regent street but figured that was only way to get one. Called persistently last week & told Saturday arrival. Turned up in morning and found out was monday.

When heard they had 'surprise' delivery Saturday afternoon (i missed by 2hours) i was back on the train for opening on Sunday & now have gorgeous 1GB Shuffle sitting on my desk:D

As you said, if you want one bad enough you're there.

01-31-2005, 07:59 PM
its not that im too lazy too get there and that i dont want 1 its that I ordered mine and have already paid for it so i am £100 poorer and have no ipod and some ppl dont have too wait at all £100 may not seem loads but its alot if ur 13

I did say it was off topic and in relation to this thread mentioning the Apple store in London which is in the UK... thus UK members will most likely read this thread

Now go ##### elsewhere

Hi,
I'm thinking of venturing down to London the weekend-after-next (round Valentine's Day) to get a couple of Shufles. Is there any way of knowing in advance if any will be in stock? If not, do you think I could be put on a waiting list for that weekend?

Thanks.

They had stock last night (2 February); my girlfriend had asked them to call her when a shipment came in, and one did on Thursday. They had a shipment last Sunday but had sold out by Monday afternoon.
