ok so the icruze and the ???link plus both use ID3 text display protocol to display text on external displays (either stereo or otherwise). The question is ??? how do they heck does that work?
I???m interested in displaying the ipod???s track info on my multi function display in my allroad. Both the MFD and the head unit (stock) support text for radio stations ??? how can I get the ipod???s info out? BTW??? allroad has stock head unit->blitzsafe->belkin (just like the jetta)

The problem is that the Multi-function-display in your Allroad is fed off the CAN-Bus (depending on your Headunit, the headunit is hooked up directly to the CAN-Bus and talks to the MF-Display, or, if you have the old NavigationPlus HU, talks to the MF-Display through the TMC-Box).
There are currently no Headunits other than the Audi/VW-built-ins that feed data into the CAN-Bus. There are PCI-Cards that can interface with the CAN-Bus, and a couple of people on a german forum built software that feeds into the CAN-Bus, but that??s highly experimental...
Hope this helps...

Yeah??? I???m starting to suck up my pride and stop trying to save a few bucks.. lol
What I???m most interested in now is how to interface an icelink plus in the jetta so it???ll display on the display on the gauge cluster. That???s not a problem for this forum though. thanks
