are there programs avaliable so that you can change files into apple lossless? Or is it just something you can get from iTunes?

iTunes definitely does it. It also looks like dBpowerAMP (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/) does it as well.

actually, it says dBpowerAMP cannot make apple lossless files, only convert them to a different file format. Does anyone know of a different program to make them? (Other than iTunes?)

Sorry, I don't know of anything other than iTunes. May I ask, why do you not like iTunes?

Its not that I don't like it, I have winME, so I can't use it.....

(I should probably update, but oh well)

It looks like QuickTime can encode Apple Lossless files and it supports Windows ME.
