Will it be possible to use the Shuffle with another iPod, using the same iTunes?

Yes. You can use any number of iPods (shuffle, mini, or otherwise) with the same version of iTunes.

You can, and the iPod shuffle is designed for use with a larger library ... hence the advertised Autofill feature.

I'm confused.
I thought that iPod Rule #1 was that you could only sync 1 iPod to 1 version of iTunes on 1 computer.
Are you saying that I can own 20 iPods and sync them all to 1 computer running 1 version of iTunes? Isn't that a violation of all those piracy issues?
I want a Shuffle to go with my Gen3 iPod but thought this wasn't possible.
Help.
You can have as many iPods as you like on one computer (we have three). You can only connect each iPod to one computer though.

The iPod shuffle seems to actually be directed at people who already have another iPod (a larger capacity one), and therefore Apple has implemented the AutoFill feature into iTunes so that people with larger music librarys can sync with it. I have a 3G 20GB and am getting a 512MB shuffle.

K1W1 is correct. The whole piracy issue is if Apple allowed bidirectional syncing. You could take your iPod plug it into 50 computers and grab everyone's music and then come home and transfer those songs to your PC. It's perfectly legal to have multiple iPods connect to one iTunes library. That way mom, dad, brother, & sister can each have an iPod and share from the same library if they so choose.

Same here, except that I have a 4G 20GB and am about to get a 512MB shuffle.
You guys are wrong about 1 iPod being used on one computer. I have synced my 4G with my iBook and my dad's Powerbook. It worked fine without any hitches.

Thanks folks! Great info!
One more question if you don't mind.....
I don't buy into the whole shuffle marketing ploy and I'll never take advantage of the USB Sync Of Mystery. Instead, I want this device to play a specific playlist in a specific order. Mr. Shuffle can do this, correct?

I also have used my iPod mini on more than one computer -- work and home. The key is the iPod has to be set to manual sync. Then it can be used on any number of computers. However transfers are still only one-way (computer to iPod).

What's the USB Sync of Mystery?
Yes, iPod shuffle can be set to play a specific playlist in a specific order.
I myself never used shuffle much before because it wasn't easily accessible in my older iPods. But with the shuffle, it seems to make more sense to shuffle the music. Also with no hard drive to slow down load times, it's more seamless on the shuffle. (No need to wait for the hard drive to power up, load a song, and play.)
