Personaly I think the Ipod shuffle is a waste of money reasons:
Cost
Only 1gig
To small and more

Compared to other flash players, The price is awesome. Some flash players costy around 100$ for just 128-256 MB.

yes, but they also have a screen, FM radio, voice recorder, and better battery life........you'd be giving up a lot.

i dont like this iPod shuffle, too ugly and not good all around, the design also is, odd, but there is one good thing about the shuffle, it weighs less than an oz!

it's funny a lot of these arguments were said about the ipod mini, (well except the no screen thing) but the fact that the mini was only 4 gig's for $250 had people laughing at it, "why buy that when you can get a 15 gig ipod for $50 more" that didn't stop the mini from selling out everywhere. I predict the same will happen with the shuffle, just give it a chance guys and you'll see :)

I would never use FM radio or a voice recorder on my player; they would be wasted features. Also, the screen isn't an issue for me, since I only listen to music I LIKE.
My reasons for buying the shuffle: I've been using my discman for almost 5 years (that's a quarter of my life!), and I feel like moving up to the 21st century. I also don't have alot of money right now because I'm an unemployed student. I'll be buying the iPod shuffle.
[edit] To the person who said that anyone who wants the shuffle just wants it because they don't have it: I want it because I want to upgrade my music player. My reasons are above. When I have more money I'll get a normal iPod to backup my music library, since I'm switching to completely digital. It's be a shame to lose all of my songs because my computer died or got a virus. And don't talk to me about backing up all my stuff onto cds or dvds, the point is to save space, and the iPod can do that while allowing me to listen to music.

I don't think the lack of a screen issue is that big of a deal. Isn't the main purpose of flash players to use them while running or working out? If you're working out, you shouldn't be stopping every 4 minutes to look for your next song . . . you should be working out and letting the music play on its own. If you load it up with songs that you like it shouldn't matter what song comes up next.
I have the 40GB 4g, but I'm considering getting a Shuffle for use while exercising and the lack of the screen means nothing to me.

I'm also considering getting a Shuffle just for exercise to save my poor iPod the wear and tear... but I listen to my songs as the mood hits me, so I'll be fiddling around with the controls anyway... so doing so WITHOUT any visual cues is going to be a b*tch!
I mean going through 240 song to find the ONE song I'm want to listen to at that very moment isn't feasible.

the ipod mini was a first of its kind. except for maybe the creative muvos and a few other.
but this is a market thats been flooded with products. It just depends on whether the rest of the market decides to wait and see its outcome or use this momentum to market their superior and easier to use products.
Flash players don't get too confusing. Almost all flashplayers in the market are easy to use. Nothing confusing about them.
We should be more concerned about the sound quality. Surprisingly no one is bothered about such things :) Isn't this an audioplayer ?
