Okay dudes. Here is my humble opinion.

The ipod is a great gadget. Cool, slick design with a pretty impressive capacity and is accompanied by the best music playing software around- itunes.

I never really liked the mini. I mean come on man, its only 4 gigs and for 50 bucks more you can get a monsterous 20 gigabytes. I was never impressed by the mini, to me it has always been a stepchild.

Now here comes the ipod shuffle. I was skeptical at first but after some thinking, this is a totally awesome idea. For the longest time people have complained that ipod was too expensive.. bla bla bla. Now here is a good flash based player. It may have some flaws, but everything does. The price is very resonable too.

For existing ipod users this is the perfect companion. If the huge hard drives are too much for an occasion, here is the perfect solution- a playlist in your pocket.

I am having a hard time resisting ordering one right now.

I don't mean to be a jerk, but the Mini is no way "in a buncha trouble". Some people want a gig, some people want 4 gigs, and some people want 20 or more. The Flash player is great for runners and whatnot, who only want a few songs from their library. The mini is for people who only have small libraries, and the bigger ones are for people with bigger libraries, who want all their music with them.

I have a lot of music, and a 20 gig. My gf doesn't have a lot, and has a mini.

They all have their place. I want a flash also, when I don't feel like carrying my full iPod around. For less "serious" listening.

None of the iPods will ever be "in trouble". They are such a mainstay at the moment, and I don't think they have anything to worry about for a while.

I would love to have one.

The mini is fine how it is, and so is the price.

Some people dont need all that space (Me)

But i got mine the december before they were unveiled

seems like something that better suits your needs comes out about a month after you get your ipod.

Ipod 3G, iPod Mini

Ipod 4G, iPod shuffle

idk, id like one, but im perfectly content with my ol 3G

If the money's out there (and it usually is) it'll find the right product for each person...

Quick example within my family:

Me: 3gen 15GB Ipod, holds most of my music, bring it everywhere and plug it into everything. Just bought a Shuffle as I was in the market for a flash player since the main Ipod skips when I run.

Bro and Sis: Ipod minis- holds most of their music, more than enough for them to get around on. They are college age and just out, so maybe trade up to big Ipod down the road a bit. (I would bet my sis would have bought a Shuffle had they been out in June)

Dad: 4gen 20GB Ipod- because he sees his kids have them, and his library of music is bigger than 4GB (probably about 10?) and he's older and has the money so go nuts and get a regular Ipod that he'll never fill up.

My family ain't real tech heads- iTunes makes us comfortable so we're probably hooked for a while...

I couldn't agree more. Every iPod has its place.

I'm also a member of a TiVo forum, and it seems like every week somebody is posting on that forum that TiVo is in "a lot of trouble" and "will be obsolete" within a week.

Although nobody is claiming Apple is going, people here are very quick to say that the iPod is doomed.

Whatever.

i dont think the mini is in trouble, someone that wants a screen and a few more gigs of space for a bit more money will go for the mini, ever since the photo ipod came out, are all the iPods in trouble since it is a color screen and the others arent? I think it will find it's place, it probably wont be the biggest thing ever to hit the market, but it could be a handy tool

i also dont think the mini is in trouble...i mean some ppl want a screen and low storage capacity, others want low storage capacity, sleek design and no screen...

Holy zombie threads, batman!

This thread has been dead so long I think ipodshuffler had to sacrifice his soul to dark powers in order to resurrect it.

Here's hoping, anyway...

I have a hard time taking this serious becuz you did not do your homeWork

the iPod mini is 4gb for $200 and 20gb for $300( $100 difference) and iPod Mini 6GB is 250, and if some one only has 200 or 250 then they get a mini and the mini is smaller ( fits in pocket better). Why spend the extra 50-100 when you don't want/need it? And the 3hrs better battery life on the mini over the iPod and 5hrs over the shuffle. The mini has its pros and cons just as all the iPods do.

Yea, got my gf a 4GB mini and she's only filled up half of it. Saved me $100

See, this is part of the problem with resurrecting ancient posts. When that was posted, the 6GB Mini didn't exist, and the 4GB cost 250. So it made sense then.

Unless you have something really necessary and relevant to add to a thread (and "Me too" isn't particularly necessary or relevant), it's best to let sleeping dogs lie.
