Okay, so now that ive invested in a 300 dollar device and even more with cases, etc, I want to hear the music at a peak level. I am not an audiophile, hell, I dont even know what is wrong with my 10 dollar sony earbuds that I get because they are cheap, however I did notice the ipod headphones were sucky. I am planning on getting the 50 dollar MDR-EX71 earbuds because I think they are of higher quality for what my ears would need in seeing a higher performance. HOWEVER, for someone like myself, would I *really* need to look into the shures/e6i's? I mean, I see they are more expensive, most likely have better bass, and more isolation, but it is to the point of being necessary? Sort of like buying a car. You can get the nice VW Jetta, gets you from place A to place B. Solid car, better than average models. However, is it necessary to get that BMW if you're not trying to impress ladies ;) okay okay, bad analogy, but I think ya'all understand my point.

Thank you very much.

You wouldn't be the first person to be turned into an audiophile after purchasing Shures or Etys. You can't really know what you're missing in high-end audio until you hear it. So while you can say, "I'm not an audiophile" you might actually be one and not know it. If you purchase some high end phones you might find that you really like what you hear.
